The location is perfect for the historical old part of the city, we visited for 2 nights and wanted to see this area so that was great, many sights within walking distance -although it is a taxi ride away from the seafront area where most restaurants are. The hotel has grandeur from times past although is overdue some facelifts, however if you want to experience a snapshot of old Lima this is perfect.Our room was large, clean, lovely old furniture, quiet as faced inside as we requested, the be.

Food is excellent.Lots of hot water/bathrooms very clean.Bed was comfortable but would have liked a larger one. Slept well as noise level was low on our side of hotel. This is a grand historic place. We really enjoyed the grandjure of the building. The reception desk was helpful and friendly. The room was clean and well kept, but unfortunately we had an early flight and missed out on the breakfast, and any connection with other employees. We will definitely stay there again if we return to Lima. Staying at the Gran bolivar hotel is like staying in a museum. the staff is friendly. there are restaurants in the area and shopping and the best pisco sours in town. we had an early flight and they gave us a breakfast bag full of goodies to take on the plane It's a 5 star at 2 star prices. It is an ideal spot for looking at the old sights in Lima, most are in walking Distance or a short taxi ride and you can sit in the Plaza San Martin and relax in the cool of the evening. Quite short double bed was a little hard and rather let down the grand feeling of the room. Room needs upgrading but again this is an historical hotel. Our room needed.painting and rug could use cleaning. That being said staff cleaned room daily and left fresh towels. No complaints with service or staff. We called the hotel directly in the morning and were told they were full. Fortunately, later in the day, we tried your web site and got a room. It seems, with today's communications, that they should be able to connect callers with room holders rather than just turn them down and risk having empty rooms go unfilled. Shower was very anemic. Towels, tp and day to day maid service was less than desirable. Impossibly noisy on Saturday night. Very noisy all night from the traffic. The extra charges for early arrival. The noise in the room street's side. Nothing really. We had a room right above The street and there was honking of horns the entire night. Hard to sleep. It was the noisest two nights I have ever spent traveling. Needs refurbishing. It was a little noisy one night. Staff were very slow, place was a bit run down and in need of upgrading. Hotel certainly needs some updating but if you're a fan of past historical grandeur and architecture there's nothing to dislike. Room could have used a good dusting and bathroom could stand some modern renovation but all in all it's very quaint and quite charming for us. No wifi in the room at all, though we could pick up the signal for our floor (3rd) down in the breakfast room. Breakfast somewhat limited with no fruit or cereals. Taxi outside wanted $15 to Parque del Reserva but we walked 2 minutes away from the Hotel and got one for $7. The first night we had a room on a side street but there was traffic honking of cars the entire night. The second night we asked for a quiet room and that was very quiet. room was old and really musty and the bed was rock hard along with the tv being very old and not working properly. Cockroaches in room 403. Noisy location and in many different rooms, you will hear noise all night. Moldy. Beds are hard uncomfortable. Rooms are NOT updated for today's technology. My wife swears there were bed bugs??. Most of the breakfast room staff, very dirty lamp shades, old cracked toilet seat, hole in the sheet. The laundry service is very expensive. The old thread-bare furniture and plumbing of 1924. The not-so-friendly staff in the bar and resaurant, and the fact that you connot go out at night due to crime in the area. We had a suite on the street, and the street noise continued all night long. The room had a smell of old as soon as you opened the door, wake up calls did not happen as expected, the TV belongs in a museum, the pillows were terrible and so was the view, and I paid for a suite. The shower was good but not the toiletries. the street noise was horrendous - traffic and honking horns all night. Staff not very friendly except for the bellmen. The reception staff were rude and not helpful. Very pricey for what you got. Loud and very hard beds. beds too hard noise from outside no block out curtains cold rooms no heating. The carpet dirty no wy fy in the room towel not new or in good shape. Hotel was VERY outdated. Felt like we were walking back in time to the 1880's. Bathroom plumbing was ancient; never got hot water to shower. Location on a grand square was scenic but we sensed not safe.
