What people say
The friendly, helpful and efficient check in service.
The room was well appointed, with comfortable Queen size bed, tea/coffee, and mini bar, walk in shower. Very quiet.
Wonderful full breakfast, with great service. Nice selection of fresh fruit too.
Centrally located, next door to Micheal Fowler Centre, 2 mins to waterfront, where you can stroll along to Te Papa. 2 mins to Cuba St, Courtney Pl, Willis St, 5 mins to Lambton Quay and the Cable Car. 10 mins to Parliament Buildings. Near lots of . all reviews »
Very friendly and helpful staff especially the young man on the front desk - unsure of his name - his home town is Rotorua if that helps identify him! Please tell him thank you from us for the good service.
We were very happy with the apartment accommodation for our second night - thank you. Your bar staff are great - the young man bartender was professional and very good and the young lady serving snacks had a very nice approach to guests.
We hope you get heaps of good business from the rugb.
Consistent service and facilities throughout. I liked when we mentioned
a room was hot that unknown to us, the staff talked and brought us a
fan to our room soon afterwards, although we had not requested one, but
appreciated the thought and approach to customer service. Complimentary
food after 5pm in the bar also very food. Great breakfast selection,
service and quality. Great parking option. We had a really good stay
and stayed an extra night. Next time we are in Wellington, we will
visit you.
After booking this hotel I read some of the reviews and was worried that I had made a mistake. But what we found was a clean, comfortable, spacious room. The young man on the desk when we were checking out has A++++ customer service skills and was so helpful. For a mid priced hotel, right in the centre of the city it was excellent and we will certainly stay there again.
Very good staff support particulary impressed that staff carried bags up stairs to room due to earthquake. nothing was too much trouble. Proximity to centre city was attractive to my wife and is ideal for my future business trips with business meetings within walking distance of the Hotel. Nice to have a room where you could open the windows and enjoy fresh air.
From the time I arrived, early (asked if I could get into my room
earlier) from the 11am checkout, everyone helped me in my stay there, I
in turn supported the resturant, as I felt very comfortable spending a
littel more for the extra comfort they gave me, and also the help I
received with the internet connection.
Absolutely loved the breakfast that was included with the room. It was awesome. We thought the hotel itself (even though it does not look like much from the outside) was beautiful once inside. The room was very nice. We like that the hotel is close to Wellingtons attractions.
Room was dated but comfortable. It suited our needs perfectly - it was
cheaper than a taxi or dial a driver back to Upper Hutt which meant we
could both enjoy ourselves at our function. Will definately stay here
next time we have a function on in Wellington city again.
The size of the room, having a bath in the ensuite, having a balcony, good assortment of sky channels. Friendly staff. Ooh, nearly forgot, nice soft carpet. It was the biggest room in central wellington I have ever stayed in, and also the only one with a balcony.
I liked the front foyer area. Very attractive, nice size, very pleasant decor, and I liked the access through the building to car park and other streets. I particularly liked the size of the dinning room and the layout. Not too big and not too small.
Well presented foyer, and Hotel, sympathetic to our needs when we had to
leave early. Cheerful staff, good breakfast, good safe car park, quiet
bedroom good amenities, restful stay. Very happy to recommend on.
Great room with large lounge, comfortable bed, parking, wifi and close to the waterfront and all it offers. Wish all our other accommodation for the two weeks we were touring had been as good as this.
first impressions great coming into the foyer - we thought package deal for 2 nights with breakfast included was pretty good value. Excellent service in restaurant, staff always there to assist.
Location was absolutely fantastic. Room size was also a lot nicer than some of the other hotels I stayed in central city. Internet price is very good as well if you're staying for three days.
Great place clean staff are wonderful always there to help Its location is so good nice and close to shops pubs places to eat at Breakfast in the morning is so nice You will enjoy.
Comfortable bed, good-size room, overall layout, staff helpfulness, breakfast (except over), relaxing bar area on return at night, location.
Overall experience VERY good.
Friendly, helpful, kiwi staff. Decent sized room, good shower pressure and comfortable, clean beds and pillows. Great location, perfect for visitors with no vehicles.
I have been staying at the West Plaza for nearly 30 years, it has always been excellent value for money and the staff are always polite and helpful.
Very handy for shopping museum, cable car, wharf &many restaurants.
Food was lovely in the restaurant. Staff were really friendly
&helpful.
Your staff where always very helpful and made the stay easier.
The room itself was clean, comfy, homely and positioned well in the inner city.

The room was comfortable, clean. Hotel ideally situated and close to everything. We will be back again.
I stay there frequently for business and very much appreciate the friendly & helpful staff. Really good location as well.
Courteous staff. Central city location - walking access to amenities. Excellent cuisine in an under-patronised restaurant.
Room was great -top floor front with balcony by far the best in 7 stays
Place was better organised this time and cleaner.
Staff friendliness and attention to requests.
Location right in the heart of the city but still very quiet room and lobby.
Central location, friendly staff that happily discuss whatever. Good selection for my breakfast each day. Comfortable bed.
The way the staff made you feel welcome at the start until leaving.
Nothing was a problem, and made to relax and enjoy.
Hotel location restaurant facility. Excellent helpful staff. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Very reasonable cost.
how accessible it is to shopping and the night life also the wharf. Ideal spot to stay and i would highly recommend.
convenient location to city and port activities, helpfull reception staff.Friendly atmosphere.Definately stay again.
Location, service, restaurant
and especially the piano player in the foyer and all the beautiful fresh flowers.
Friendly helpful staff. Lovely clean room and being able to include our older son. Fabulous breakfast too.
Location is fantastic. Price is amazing given the awesome quality of the Hotel. Staff happy and helpful.
the location was great
rooms were a decent size tidy and well presented
staff were friendly and helpful.
We like to stay at west plaza, its central and within walking distance to everywhere we want to go.
Locality was great. Good sized bar seating area. Friendly staff. Generally good value for price.
Location was excellent. Room was clean and spacious. Convenient to Cuba Street for restaurants.
Feels comfortable to stay at.
Staff very good.
Central to everything can walk around easily.
Central location fro shopping and the waterfront.
Close to Wedding reception at the Boatshed.
The reception staff were brilliant - really good with directions and nothing was a problem.
Perfect location and set up for our trip for a friends wedding. Very happy with experience.
We really enjoyed our stay, we found the staff very helpful and the room very comfortable.
We had a great stay. The room was clean & fresh. Staff were friendly
and helpful.
We liked the convience of where the accommodation was. Easy walking to all venues.
Loved the location.... Felt save nice part of Wellington to come back to at night.
Very friendly staff.
Comfortable.
Handy to shops and entertainment museum etc.
Location was perfect for getting around wellington and staff were very helpful.
We liked the small size, central location,on site car parking, value for money.
Friendliness of the staff. Great first impressions when I first
walked in.
Location & Car park availability (we were the lucky few but.........). Nothing - we had an excellent stay. Keep up the good work. .
Nothing of mention really. It was all good.
We drove around in circles wondering where we were going to park, until we discovered that if you go around to the back of the building there is an entrance and undercover area where you can leave your car while you check in.
Smokers outside the main door, had to run the guantlet of second hand smoke to enter the Hotel.
Getting a little lost, on one of my walks, maybe I should have got a
local street map of the ccity, but my fault., Although I didn't see
one on the wall for things to do, and activities around N.Z.
We did not like that the description for the hotel said "that it had late checkout" with inquiry, but when we asked for late checkout were then told it would cost $50 to checkout at 1pm. We knew we were getting in late and that is why we booked with them. The cost should be listed on letsbookhotel.com. I also did not like that the showerhead in the room was not above head height and was not removable. I did not take a shower because it was not appealing to be bending down.
Can't think of anything.
Unfortunately the weather turned into a storm and we could not walk
around the city as we had planned. No ones fault of course ,it changed
our plans for us.
The room was very comfortable but felt it was a wee bit smaller than I expected and decor a bit drab and dated (sorry!!) We really did have a pleasant stay overall.
Just the shower. I thought it was rather poor, it wasn't tall enough for me and I couldn't figure out how to make it taller. Also the water "power" and temperature were below average.
No toast at breakfast - had to ask; but no problem with being brought some to the table - staff very polite & obliging.
Shower: water leaked under shower screen and out to carpet
Paying for car park.
Hot, stuffy room, couldn't cool room even with windows open all night.
The piano player left a lot to be desired. She didn't play one piece
in tune. It wasn't a good welcome to your hotel. I ordered hot
chocolate with Baileys at bedtime &was sorry it was delivered in a
cardboard cup as it flavored the drink with card.
Never enough teabags....
nothing, all was great.
Nothing - all very good.
My wife (jazz musician) provided a half hour free 'concert' on the grand piano...but was advised that there was to be no music after 9pm because it was 'noisy'.
Wi Fi that you buy for 1 hour in time BUT you cannot use for 5 mins and return later -not useful.
Room heating system - electric wall fan heater was effective but too noisy.
Room 227 poor location of light switches. One by the door then long corridor to the rest of the room. Bedlight switch on the far side of the double bed. Minor issues, I will stay at the hotel again.
nothing to say.
toenails on carpet and hair and dirt on ceilings of bathroom, shower ran water around toilet and not kept within cubical,no aircon in room ,a bit warm on a hot day.
Noise of the Roadworks outside on Sunday...but no fault of the hotel!.
the shower was mouldy especially the shower tap handle was disgusting dirty
it made you not want to touch it.
Bed not particularly comfortable. Room small so wouldn't want to stay in that room longer than 2 days.
Slightly noises very late at night with our adjoining room people staying.
We were room 522.
Not their fault just that all their talking came through to our bedroom. See there was a locked doorway between us where noise coming from.
Problem would not affect us booking again. All good but it may others.
There was nothing we did not like.
Could have more variety in bar meals, breakfast was good but did not think we should pay for toast and coffee.
The only comment I would make was we were new to Wellington and I asked
for a map. I got a black and white copy of a street map. I was expecting
a colour street map with where everything was like most other cities I
have stayed in.
There is nothing that we didn't like.
Water on bathroom floor when using the shower.
No free wifi.
Water spilled from shower onto the floor.
Decor of rooms was dated and rooms did not have air con which was made worse by the fact the windows did not open very much.
Showers could do with an upgrade.
All those Dam Doors!!!.
