Brand new facilities, newly and very tastefully decorated, good kitchen equipment, outdoor patio, very well located by the lake and the town centre. The staff were so friendly and went to great efforts to make sure the cot was comfortable for our baby and even provided a hooded baby towel which was really useful. We strongly recommend staying here, it doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside it is a real treat, by far the best place we stayed on our trip.
all reviews » As some of the others have said , it doesn't look very exciting from the outside but inside is a different story. The rooms (and we stayed in two different ones) are very nicely decorated and have some unexpected but very welcome extras These included , a small stereo system with an Ipod dock, free cookies (yum!), magazines to read and a separate freezer. The service was friendly and helpful. The central location makes this very convenient. The rooms were very clean and tidy. The linen was crisp and was freshly laundered.The staff were very friendly and accommodating. . The white-ware was new and the other utensils/crockery/cutlery were clean and in very good condition. Overall a great place to stay no matter if it is business or leisure - we will most definitely come again. This is a small Motel with 4 apartments and the owners are friendly, helpful and are in tune with travellers needs. They go the extra to provide the personal touch and kept our rooms clean and resupplied each day. Well positioned for town and lakeside. Go to a larger Motel if you want but you will miss a treat at the Birchlands. Excellent experience. Great self contained units/apartments very modern décor, nicely done. The full oven was a bonus. The owners have renovated their property to a high standard and were friendly and welcoming. The owner, Peire, was very approachable and friendly and helpful. He helped to recommend the best contacts for our rafting and trout-fishing. He even provided us the towels from his motel for our white-water rafting which he knew we would need without even us requesting for it. We enjoyed our stay at Birchlands.It was a spotless,well laid out unit and well equipped with all the amenities.It also was in a great location close to town centre and to the lake .We appreciated our friendly hosts as well. Soundproofing not that great (despite the block walls) - could hear every sentence (and toilet visit!) of the guests in the neighbouring room. Nothing all was very good :). Nothing bad about this motel. The outside of the motel doesn't look much but the rooms are excellent. Shower facility was in need of an upgrade and soap should definitely be changed as it did not lather up. The exterior need a revamp how ever I am assured by the new owners hat this is the next step in making this a very affordable comfortable motel in a very central location. The only thing it lacked was a bath, but the shower sufficed. Nothing at all. Shower floor slippery & spongy could do with as non-slip mat. As we said to owners, the concrete block walls are great sound conductors, so if you have early rising neighbours, you may get woken. They are working on this though :-). All was good. Sadly clolour of carpet did not help as it had stains but did not deter from overall experiance. Nothing. Need a softer bed. Smell paint. nothing. Retro bathroom/toilet with no heating.
