I didn't like the fact that there was no place for us to hangout in
the hostel after quiet hours; especially once the kitchen and movie room
closed. A few nights we came back from the pub but wanted to socialise
but had no ideal place to do so. The lobby was okay, but still not ideal.
Beds, the odd cold shower and it was far too noisey. If you want to get any sleep, stay away.
Smelly fridge - which was replaced the next day, room looked like it had not been cleaned for days!!!! but linen was clean and towells were changed each day.
Kitchen is dirty and shocking. It was very noisy, a lot of banging going on all night long.
The room facilities are poor, it has a boiler you can't use, it is very tall and the tab is very low, when I ask the staff, she tells me "you can use cup to put water in the boiler", besides, I have no cup in my room when I checked in. More important, it has a bar which makes to much noise during your sleep. If you can spare a few more dollars, I strongly suggest you find a real 5 stars hotel. The room is not clear.
I had a double room in room 107 for four nights but every night I couldn't sleep well because it was so noisy outside my room, even at 3~4 am. The hotel allowed others' customers drinking and chatting very loudly during the sleep period between 1 am and 5 am. Different from other backpackers' hostels in new zealand, they charged additional 2% when I used the travel money card. Overall, I won't choose the queenstown base hostel again.

Driving: Finding BASE Queenstown is simple as we are on Shotover Street, which is the main street of Queenstown.
