Location: great location, it’s right next to the Hagley Park so we had an extremely nice stroll in late afternoon. It’s 15 minutes walk to center but since there isn’t much to see in the center you might as well just enjoy being close to the park. Room: it’s a bit small but very clean and tidy with good décor. The balcony overlooks a private garden and is petite and lovely. Service: was excellent. Every staff was very nice and attentive. We’re on our honeymoon trip and we got upgraded to a hon.

Our stay at The George was a luxurious, fitting and relaxing end to our two week drive around the South Island. We liked the ambience of the hotel...it exuded warmth...we liked the class and the location...right next to a park. The beds and the pillows were very comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. The staff were amazing they went above and beyond in all aspects. We were upgraded as our anniversary and I was having surgery that day so to have somewhere so wonderful to recouperate in was fantastic. Staff, especially the concierge, were very proactive and helpful in finding restaurants at a busy time in the city, and in advice re directions in the very changed city centre. The upgrade to a suite was much appreciated. Plenty of space, wonderful decor and a high level of comfort. Bistro 50 served a fantastic meal for both dinner and breakfast. Staff attentive and nothing a problem. Little personal extras like decorated plate for my birthday. Facilities all high standard of comfort and convenience. A real treat. The room was really well decorated & had everything in them. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good and the room was pleasent. The staff were exceptional and the whole stay could not have been better. We received a free upgrade and service was top knotch. Cant wait to go back !. Great staff, really helpful. We arrived late and hungry but the restaurant was very accommodating and delicious food. Friendly staff, good bed. I’m surprised breakfast is not included and it’s a bit over-priced for me, comparing with what I paid in Europe. On top of that, I can never understand why every hotel in New Zealand charges so much on Wifi – when I paid $19 for Vodafone prepaid and got 500mb, 50 minutes and 5000 text messages free!. That retsuarants in the hotel shut early and in room dining, though excellent, had a limited choice. Nothing there is not one thing a person could complain about. Very pricey as no specials available when I booked. The sliding door on the bathroom... Nothing specific but clear lack of parking spaces for hotel guests as anyone can park on grounds unchallenged. Nothing. Bit of a pain wit the road works righ t outside but ant be helped. Nothing!. The bistro served up a lamb cutlet dish that was very poor, more like mutton. After that we did not dine in the hotel. Our loss in the meal, their loss for more custom. nothing I didnt like. Beds to soft beds to small dirty windows no view bathroom door didn't close properly hand basin style was strange,you splash water everywhere toilet paper got wet when you washed your hands to expensive.
