4 star hotel,in beautiful city. We received a friendly welcome and reception was always helpful with anyquestions about the facilities of the hotel and the local area.We hadpreviously visited Sluis and chose the small town purposely and we werenot disappointed.Having a car helped us explore the area more widely.Ourreservation was room only and we tended to eat out.Eating at the hotelwould have worked out rather expensive.all reviews »
Sluis is a lovely town, with plenty shops, restaurants and wonderful scenery. The Dikke Van Dale is the best hotel in the area. Very comfortable hotel, staff were unobtrusive and polite. Large, comfortable rooms. Very clean. The room was excellent and the service was of a high quality. We went to have dinner in restaurant Oud Sluis. perfect location. Easily accessible and directions good. Right by town. Very nice hotel, spaciuos rooms and bathrooms, very well furnished. Excellent situated for cyclingtrips te Belgium etc. A very nice building from the outside. Room access was by electronic card which gave a slight problem at onestage and required reissue.The spring loaded doors to rooms could be abit annoying after midnight if residents were returning and lackedconsideration.We were still very happy with our hotel choice. No criticisms at all. Breakfast a little expensive but it was enjoyable. The breakfast was very basic. Too expensive.The breakfast was poor for the price charged. I had breakfast elsewhere on the second day of my stay. The breakfast was too simple. Furniture in room was stained and room just needed little bits of diy doing to it. Otherwise hotel was fine. The staff was not friendly, we were traveling with a baby and we asked for a baby cot but when we arrived there was no one in the whole hotel, at 1 am we had to change room (two separate beds) for a twin size bedroom so that the baby could sleep between us. Moreover they wanted to charge us: 50 €for room change, 20 €for baby cot (they have none in the hotel) 70€ for breakfast we never took. The service in the diningroom. Very dusty, should have been cleaner.
