We had booked a room without balcony, but when we came to check in we kindly asked if they had a room with balcony they upgraded us for free to a lovlely room in the new apartments. Balcony, two double beds, ocean view and a big bathroom. Loved it! It was very clean and nice. We ordered roomservice a few times for breakfast and it was delicious and they cam with it pretty fast. We didnät have a wineopener in the room so when we called to ask if they had one we could use they quickly sent an old.
all reviews » The location of Casa Maya is ideal, right between touristy Punta Cancún and downtown. We walked along a fair amount of Cancún beachfront, and Casa Maya was located along one of the best stretches, with calm seas and a broad beach with fine sand. Also, the breakfast buffet was excellent, as was the room service food. Outstanding location, beach and extremely great quality of all staff from front desk to servers and housekeeping. Great restaurants and breakfast buffet. Really cannot say enough good about the quality of the people there. They make your time at their resort very special. Was so clean, beautiful, everybody is super nice. The people that works there really takes pride on what they do. Patsy ( Receptionist) and Antonio ( Beach area server) made our stay 100% better! Super nice, helpful, Servicial and just friendly. Love it!. The friendliness of staff and guests. We especially enjoyed the spontaneous performances at happy hour and the fun we had at happy hour. I love the beautiful view of my room, the fast access from the pool to the beach and the staff was very kind. The pool and the beach was excellent. Good breakfast. Nice rooms. We settled our bill the night before we left, and were told we could drop off our keys at the express check-out in the morning. We stopped at the desk to do so the next day 5 minutes before our airport transportation was due to leave, and it took 15 minutes to deal with the express check-out. Our driver was preparing to leave us behind, and it was only with some yelling that we managed to get our keys back and ourselves to the airport. The old quilted bedspreads. Seriously.. They need to have guest be able to use the phone for local calls without charging!!!! Was terrible to even try to call for pizza or just to call an ask for information.. We had to go to a payphone! And is 5 pesos every sinle time you call!. I didn't like washing my own dishes in the bathroom sink or having to pay extra. I wonder about the cleanliness of doing dishes this way as well as previous guests washing dishes this way too. I don't like the horrible noise every time my husband and I and other people made when flush the toilet. Rooms are not 5 stars. Need to be improved. Hot water was not. luke warm at best. the prices at the pharmacy. The infrastructure is old and a run dowm. Several details are not well mantained inside the room and outside. Since they started their program with "upgraded" armbands the rest of us felt neglected and the service has declined. Our room was old and definitely showing wear. Housekeeping staff do a good job of cleaning, but other service in restaurant not as good as it used to be. There was no market, restaurant or mall nearby in a walking distance. Food was the same everyday. Checkin time was at 2pm, we arrived at 3 but the room was not ready and we were told that it wont be ready before 4. Although the room was supposed to have a kitchenette, there were no coffee/tea maker and utensils in the room, just a fridge and a microwave!. Unfriendly staff that discriminates. They gave bad information and chased guests that were with us off of the beach after telling us we were allowed on the beach and made no apology for it. The hotel markets itself as a 5 star hotel while the rooms are certaily not of a 5 start quality. They look old and dated, old TV sets and blankets. The staff is surprisingly unhelpful when it comes to common sense requests. Breakfast was great, but the staff attitude needs an improvement. They would not let you start breakfast 5-10 minutes early (even though the breakfast tables were all set) or pack some fruit to take with if you are leaving for a day trip and cannot make it to breakfast.
