1.Allowed me to check in two hours earlier than the exactly check in time (based on the availability of the room). 2. Free upgrade from Standard Double to Deluxe Double during check in although i didin't request it at all before. It was a big surprise to me. 3. Wifi is strength. 4. Location is damn perfect. all reviews » Nice hotel rooms with a white color tone in general. The hotel was clean and the staff very friendly. The location is near (7 min walking) to the shopping area Komtar, where you can find all kind of stores as well as a main bus station for all directions. Furthermore there are a lot of small stores along the Chulia street, where you can find breakfast, change money or just eat lunch. As a small tip: the hotel is not soo easy to find, coz it is in a backyard a few meters away from the street. If. The desk staff are very helpful especially Kevin. He gave us details info as to how to go to places of interest and where to take bus and which bus numbers. He is always helpful through his shift. They are generous too whether we need a clean floor towel or an extra roll of toilet paper they are very happy to provide us with. But Internet is not convenient which we hope it will improve the next time we go again. Yes I would recommend friends and relatives to this hotel if they ever go to Penang. We stayed in a Deluxe Family Room (2 Queen Beds @ groundfloor). Our room was really clean. Bedding and pillows of good quality and clean. Underestimated the air-con as it was hidden in an enclosed design. Air-con was cold and in good condition. Toilet was clean too. Location is really good and convenient with lots of food places within walking distance. Also, famous Penang murals were within walking distance too. All white ambience, felt like staying in a palace. We had asked for a double room, however we got a spacious 1 queen and 1 single bed. Tea/Coffee and hot kettle in the room. It's pretty convenient and there is a stretch of night food stall selling nice yam fritter balls, apom manis and wan ton mee along Lebuh Chulia at night...yummy!!! The rooms n shared bathroom n toilets are generally clean. A brightly lit hotel...good for budget travellers cos the price is real reasonable. I liked the fact that the hotel building was more than a 100 years old. I was glad to be part of history. The location was excellent within walking distance to eateries and shops. Power point! One socket a room is never enough! Please give more than one power point for our electrical devices to get charged. :-). Bathroom gets pretty soaked after shower, wifi blackspots mainly in reception area and lack of breakfast option. Room is quite small and a bit dark, fine for a weekend though!. The parking is a little to narrow, makes it very challenging to park. As soon as we got there, I went to the bathroom and there were three toilets that were clogged and full of feces. The wooden floor upstairs made a lot of noise even when people were walking normally. They only gave us one key card even though there were 4 of us. Nothing in particular. Short of proper Amenities like shampoo, but given the cost that would not be much of a complain. The smell of mold in the room. There are not a lot of amenities and overall the hotel is basic - a place to sleep. The bathrooms are also small and not very well laid out. window in the room is not a real window (painted white, do not open and even if opens - going onto the wall one meter away). Our room is at the second floor, as the floor made from wood it is very annoying when other guests who walk with stamped their feet. when we stayed, some part of second floor is being repaired so it's quite noisy. Washroom was too small. Possibly small room size and Bathroom. The hotel lobby was not air-conditioned.It;s quite hot while u're just coming back from outside. The room was too small. We got the room with the door just from the lobby which was not very quiet. Rooms around the lobby are very noisy as doors have big gaps. Noise also comes from the rooms in 1st floor. The bedsheet are a little old and I think the hotel should improve on it. We could not open the window. Very weak wifi signal in room, in lobby was a little better. The water in the shower room is not big enough. Rooms are a little small - not great if you have lots of luggage. Bathroom is tiny - if you are large you may have trouble fitting inside. Can be a bit claustrophobic. We had to ask for toilet paper as the cleaner did not restock when cleaning the room. The right hand side of the street turns into a red light district and you can see many woman standing around on street corners. If you have kids, walk left out of the hotel in the evening. Sharing bathroom with open view and glass door. Shared toilets need to be cleaned more often but here not seen with over spilling bins. No complaints. Not much, we had downstairs room but a heavy footed guest in room above occasionally appeared to be part of herd of elephants, even without wearing shoes!. The shower in the bathroom is just too big and not designed well. Make the bathroom super wet after using.:(. wifi in the room was pathetic. Many people ended up in the lobby trying to connect to the internet, feeding mosquitoes at the same time. My room was left open the whole day after the cleaners sent me my towels while I was out. Luckily nothing was stolen. nothing. I didn't late house keeping. I didn't like coming back to my on mess after a day out. The room was pretty small. The Wifi internet was terrible, 4 different devices had trouble connecting over a 18 hour period.
