The hotel the is just inside The Old Town and you can walk to the other side, in cathedral square, in 15 minutes although better to take your time. If you arrive by car, as we did. the last hundred metres is the wrong way up a one way street but you are okay for access and there is no through traffic coming the other way. There is an electronic gate at the entrance. everything about this hotel perfect.

Someone playing a violin in his/her room added to the experience. Excellent help from the front desk when our daughter became ill -- she helped direct us to an apothecary. Location just inside the old city and near the Gates of Dawn. I especially liked the decor and the calm atmosphere of the place. It was tranquil and relaxing. The location is perfect as it is situated around the corner from the Gates of Dawn. The breakfasts were outstanding and the service was superb. The staff was very helpful when booking tours in and around the city. I highly recommend this hotel. Location purfect for the city as it is right in the old town. Once we worked out where it was(thanks letsbookhotel.com) it was not a problem. Hotel is very tranquil and clean. Staff helpful, parking secure which is good as we were travelling on a motorcycle. Overall we had a very nice stay. The Domus Maria was a very quiet hotel, no noise from outside at all. The continental breakfast was very good, cereal, fruit, cold meats, hot eggs and sausages, toast, yogurt, cheeses, tea and coffee and fruit juice. Hot drinks available all day from reception area. The setting in a former monastery was very atmospheric and the arcitecture very interesting. Great location and we had a viewup close of the Gates of Dawn and the chapel there. Tricky to figure out how to get into the Domus Maria. We used both Garmin and cell turn-by-turn navigation and you end up at the Gates of Dawn (where you can't go through). Book in advance, and make sure to ask for driving directions into the Old City. There was nothing that I did not like but additional english language television would be nice. Also, I could not call long distance from my room but I was able to call from the front desk. Breakfast could have had more choice. My friend had a single room and she didn't have a kettle in her room. The room was fairly spartan and the double quilt was only as wide as the bed so a little tricky to share equitably. I wish we brough earplugs, they are a must if you wish to have a longer sleep in the morning. The echo in the hallways is not to joke with. A little scarce choice of food at breakfast, though still good. Nothing really. Our room, Nr. 423, was under the eaves with two skylights. As there were no curtains, the Sun came into our east facing Room at 5:30 AM in early June. Next time we would ask for another room. The box to get a shower is very small. Everything was great, especially the price. Poor ventilation in the room. No tea/coffe facility in the room or in the hotel after breakfast. Actually, our stay was excellent. Maybe I would mention a little bit chill air in the corridor, but it is warm in the room and cosy. All was pleasant!. Nothing. I have no complaints about this place. I didn't have any problems. I liked it all; breakfast was simple but good. Note. You might have to walk up to the reception to ask them to open the gate for your car – or just call the number listed :). A little bit cold inside in late September, no bath, just a shower. We were surprised that we were charged 7 lt. Coffee when we had a bowl of soup for lunch. nothing negative to add. nothing. Mattress protector did not stay on bed due to I'll fitting, therefore uncomfortable to sleep on. Loud bell ringing early in the morning, probably from the nearby Orthodox church. Not the best double bed. The rooms are a bit simple, and there is no comfortable chair in the rooms. Room was somewhat small and furniture even being clean wasn't looking really nice. A bit pricy for this city. Could hear footsteps from the floor above us (this is only a minor complaint).
