Good breakfast variety. Staff fantastic, friendly, they speak very good English. We were given the last room on ground floor facing the laundry and meeting place of staff which was a bit noisy and they could look into our room. However we were given another beautiful room on top floor the next day. They organised a taxi van for us and our friends to see the Garden of Buddha for 35 USD. The hotel is located in walking distance to sights.

While not the cheapest hotel by back packer standards it gets you a lot especially if you have been traveling a while and need to spread out a little. Well worth it. Breakfast was generous. We stayed the second time at this hotel. The staff of the hotel and the cleaning ladies are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious, spotless and sparkling new. The bed is very comfortable. Airport transfer is free. Breakfast always has a vegetarian choice. Excellent location - close to everything that we require, especially Kua Lao Restaurant provides the very best of Lao national cuisine and good entertainment of Lao classical music and dance. Great staff, nice breakfast buffet, clean and modern room, great location near the centre but not in the thick of it. Unfortunately we didn't need the free airport transfer!. First of all I like the location. It is easy to reach any sights in Vientian by feet. There is a good restorant near the hotel. Friendly staff. Clean room. The breakfast that was included was surprisingly good for a mid priced hotel. Usually, I don't bother having breakfast at this class of Laos hotel . The rooms are large and well maintained. free transfer to the airport was a bonus. We had the executive suite which was large and still a very reasonable price. They didn't have a city map. No mosquito nets despite the dengue fever being a problem in Laos, even the capital. The beds are designed to fit mosquito nets perfectly. Wifi doesn't reach all rooms equally well. 7 morning in the AV Hotel - eating almost the same breakfast. I suggest some changes to the menu. Staff too polite. They should try to give guest some ideas where to visit etc.... The hot water in the shower didn't last long. Bring us dollars to pay or you won't get the greatest exchange rate on your kip. The most terrible thing is that windows of many rooms in the hotel are looking directly to the windows of some office in neighboring building located at the distance of 3 meter. So curtains in these rooms could be hardly opened at any time. So I have to moove other more expesive room. Second item is very uncomfortable bathroom in any room. It seems they do not know how it may be looked like et al. Third, the flors are made of wood and ceiling shakes any time when somebody is walking upstairs. Location. It costs about $3 US each way to get to the main area of town. No comment. There did not seem to be views of tropical garden. Management needs to think about what travellers like: small things, like no charge for second cup of coffee, and free instant coffee in rooms. A kettle without coffee is like...... Staff could improve English. The staff was friendly but did not understand English very well so communication was difficult. We thought they should have had someone available that could answer questions more easily. No Lift No beautiful view. Staff could perhaps brush up on their English - a bit difficult at tes to communicate. None. Nothing. -a bit overpriced. Vientiane does not have any soul. Wifi did not work with our computers. Not a lot really. Everyone was very helpful and we even managed to buy a reasonable bottle of white wine!!. nothing. Nothing. Although a kettle was supplied in the room, there were no cups, teabags nor coffee. We asked for these to be supplied and were charged on checkout!. The shower had no curtain so the entire bathroom is wet when used. I know I am in Asia and this is typical in many homes, but an establishment catering to international travelers should spend the 3usd and hang shower curtains. Not so much a gripe, but the location is a 10 minute walk from the riverfront city center. There was a mix-up with my transfer and I almost lost my flight (arrived 3min before check-in closed when I had booked the transfer to 2h10min before the flight). Make sure you double check, especially if your flight is early in the morning (mine was 6:30). slightly expensive. I booked a room with garden view, but the rooms were apparently double booked, so I got a view on a wall. Staff's English not so good. Sometime communication misleading. We reserved an executive room with garden view 6 weeks before our stay. On arrival we were given a room which looked on to a covered car park. We were told this used to be the garden! we were moved the next day to a room with a much better view. However this sort of attitude does the AV hotel no favours. Bathroom basic and breakfast was very limited. It is unbelievable that on departure day, there was no electricity nor water supply. $15 US Dollars was stolen from my bag that I left in the hotel room. Free breakfast was not very good. We chose the hotel for the shuttle. They did not pick us up at the airport because other customers arrived before us, since they just have 1 car and we had to book the shuttle 3h30 before our flight, because other customers already booked it.
