Ryokan Fujitomita - Photos
What people say
This ryokan is certainly out of the way but between 2pm and 5pm you can have a free pickup from the Fujisan station about 15 min by car away. You can also go by the regular Fujikyu buses. It is a small ryokan and not very spectacular as far as ryokans go, but it certainly has a welcome and homey feel to it which easily makes it an excellent option to stay at. The dinner is top-notch and absolutely worth the price tag, make sure to order it. You can make private use of the inside bathroom in the. all reviews »
the host family was welcoming and friendly, the lady was even speaking english properly. great experience to be welcomed in a really traditional japenese-style accomodation (ryokan). food, freshly prepared by the host (and chef at the same time) was georgeous!.
The owner came to pick us up at the bus station 20 minutes away. She spoke great English and was extremely friendly. Her daughter was almost the same age as ours and would have played together but for the language barrier.
Location is easily the one major downside of this lodging, however the pickup/dropoff somewhat alleviate the situation if you can fit it in your schedule. If you plan to just stay at a hotel for a while, it's a good spot amidst unspoilt nature, but you might run out of entertainment soon enough.
Fujitomita is out of the way andn we wouldn't have taken the detour had we known how long the trip is. That's only because it was our penultimate night in Japan and it would have been easier to go straight back to Tokyo.
