What people say
Free shuttle bus to and from the train station. On arrival luggage was
taken up to our room whilst we were given tea. Staff then gave an
introduction on facilities, maps, choice of western/Japanese meals
and choice of yukata design. Unique and delicious food. Private and
intimate booths for dinner along a lantern path.
The onsens were at different temperatures so you can choose the one you like. Amazing scenery. When you want to take a break from the hot water you can sit on the bordering rocks. all reviews »
The staff were excellent!
I didn't speak much Japanese and they were really helpful.
They even helped me both at planning my onward journey, saving me an hour, and helped me make reservations at japanese reataurants further on my journey, since I could not make a reservation in Japanese.
The onsen was open 24/7. I had a late night and early morning soak. Definitely will come here again.
Just located alongside the outdoor onsen, excellent location.
Staff are very welcoming and try best to help.
Excellent onsen, beautiful scenery.
Spacious room.
Dinner is included and really delicious (I chose Japanese style) with different courses including a small hotspot.
Free shuttle bus.
Great atmosphere, romantic. Staffs are very helpful and nice. Very easy to get there from JR station as hotel provides shuttle van service. Food is also great and varieties. Restaurant atmosphere is also great and charming. Can choose breakfast either western or Japanese.
The hot springs pools are excellent, very beautiful. Diners are always a great feast for the eyes, delicious and well cared. In the region there are many activities: rafting, kayaking, hiking in summers and skiing in winters.
If you are looking for an authentic japanese hotspring experience,
this is it!! I loved everything about this place; the staff, the
rooms, the food, the pools ... it was a magical experience. I'd
love to go back!!.
The quintessential japanese experience. Everything was perfect from the
moment we arrived.
Beautiful onsen, nice staff and nice room.
Beautiful & Perfect.
The setting in the middle of the mountains next to the Takaragawa river; the big rotenburo outdoor baths; the old Japanese style building.
Wish there were more services for the hotel shuttle bus rather than only
one shuttle bus to the hotel and return a day.
There was no detailed menu for what was included in the Japanese vs western breakfast.
The place is a bit dated, but that is what should be expected when going to a traditional Japanese ryokan.
Public bath is quite basic, shower can be placed higher.
Not so convenient to go around and do other things because that Takaragawa is a little bit isolated.
Not many shower utilities provided like other onsens.
Wifi is very limited, only at lobby and very low signal.
In some parts of the pools there was a waste smell from the waste pipes nearby.
The breakfast is great the first time, but for the 3 nights we were there it was always the same: grilled salted fish and natto.
It would have been nice to have wifi in our room, but it was available
in the lobby for free.
the place was a bit run down; staff was not so motivated; needs a litte shape up and staff motivation; the cleaniness wasn`t so good.
