Staff were so friendly and helpful! they couldn't speak English fluently but they could understand enough for us to get our point across. Had a wonderful Japanese style room with a balcony and lovely view of the Lake when we woke up! brilliant! also has a public onsen or the option to have a bathroom adjoined to your room as well which is great for westerners!. This place is amazing if you have a room facing Mt. Fuji. The possibility to rent a bicycle to cycle around during the day (allowed until 6pm only) is a huge plus because there are so many sights and sounds to look out for. Another huge plus is the fact that we had an on-site onsen (hot bath). It is very useful after a whole day of trekking around the place.

We booked a Japanese room and we got the room with balcony! We were able to see the lake in the morning, it's brilliant! Overall, AWESOME! We will come back again and recommend this place to all!. The location away from the main Kawaguchiko station was nice. Only a 5 minute drive though. Also located right on the lake with views of Mt. Fuji. The onsen is beautiful. A great way to spend an early morning. Also it seems to have more Japanese tourists which is nice. Nice to stay at a place where Japanese people stay and not just foreign tourists. English speaking and extremely polite staff. Nice, clean and spacious room with a view of Mt Fuji and lake Kawaguchiko. I've read some comments saying that the hotel walls were too thin and noise travels, I didn't experience that at all. Environment was serene and relaxing. Breakfast was good too. The baths are really awesome. Place looks a bit old, but it's not a problem at all. The meals that they serve are absolutely delicious. Rooms are really comfy and i love their futons. If you're lucky, you get a room with a view of the lake on one side, and Mt Fuji on the other side. Staff is very nice. Location was really good, right on the lake and only a 10-15 minute walk from Kawaguchiko train station. Used this as my base to climb Mt Fuji and also go to FujiQ Highland amusement park. Rotemburo is really nice and although everyone got out when we got in at the least the hotel welcomed our use. They had nice breakfast and dinner and the room was clean but basic. The staff didn't speak much English but they tried their best! Was easier for us because I knew a little bit of Japanese. Although we had a non-smoking room, we could smell the smoke from the other rooms still. Another downside to this place is the inaccessibility to eating places (but is still manageable during the day if u rent the bicycle for the day). We booked a non-smoking room, but we smelled the smoke from cigarette when I entered the room. Maybe that smell came from other rooms. After a while, that smell was gone. It's not that I didn't like this it just took some getting used to. The only shower, for the dorm rooms at least, is in the female bathing area near the onsen. So you have to go downstairs to shower. Not really a problem just different. A little far away from the shops. There is no soap, shampoo nor amenities provided in room which is very strange comparing to other hotels in japan. Room is very old but my room can see fuji mountain clearly. Convenient store and food closest to hotel takes 10 mins walk. Fuji from hotel rooms, except a few from upper floor may see a portion of it. Insanely expensive to ask USD500 for one night including the crappy dinner and breakfast.
