Hotel Continental was beautiful! The lobby and public areas were first class and the room was beautiful as well. The bathroom was very big especially for European standards. They had a nightly turn-down service which was so nice and the staff was so friendly and helpful. The view from our very large balcony was gorgeous and was big enough to include a lounge, table and two comfy chairs. We loved sitting out there every morning and night. all reviews » Our room was lovely with the sea view balcony. And it was not just any sea view, it was the fantastic blue Mediterranean with Vesuvius. One could have gazed it 24/7! The staff was incredibly friendly everywhere: reception, restaurant, bar, the cleaning ladies. Always with a big smile and a friendly comment. The hotel itself is lovely with its feeling of the old days but updated for today. Its location could not have been better with a view to dream of and a short way to everywhere in Sorrent. We found the staff very welcoming and helpful. The location in Sorrento was perfect we could walk everywhere. We are a family of four with two children ( 9 and 12) and had a family room (one double and one double sofabed). We had a roof terrace with a lovely view that was unexpected. The breakfast was lovely plenty of selection. Sadly the weather was uncharacterictically poor for the time of year ( last week in May) and so we didn't use the terrace and the pool but it looked very nice. I would. My husband and I spent 6 nights at Hotel Continental and loved everything about our stay! The staff is very friendly and helpful in arranging day trips to Capri, Vesuvius, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. The best bar man ever, Giovanni, gave us a wonderful recommendation for a restaurant for dinner at Happy Hour at the hotel each night. We loved every place he suggested! This hotel was immaculate and the location was perfect! We had a beautiful view of the Bay of Naples from our room balcony. Everything, I wish I could rate this hotel over a 10. The staff was fantastic from the minute we walked in the beautiful lobby doors. Anotonio was exceptional!! Great location with a ocean view yet only 2 minute walk to downtown. The breakfast is excellent. The bathrooms are way above European standards. The décor was great. It was our favorite hotel in all of Italy and if we hope to go back just to stay here again. Thank you Continental Staff for help making our vacation so special. The pool was great for a swim after a long hot day of sightseeing- slippery tiles though so be careful as two of us fell. The staff were so friendly and accomodating and happy hour cocktails and nibblies were great. Gluten-free area with all sorts of packaged foods on breakfast buffet. We stopped in Sorrento for two nights and really enjoyed our stay at the Continental. The staff was very welcoming and spoke excellent English. The location was quiet with beautiful views of the sea. We also had very strict food requirements as my fiance is not tolerant to many foods, but the staff was amazingly accommodating, especially Antonio in the dining room. It was very cozy and the sea view made it even better. I liked the design of the hotel and it's location. It was a five minutes walk to all the major attractions and 15 minutes walk to the train station. I also liked the staff. The location was brilliant, got the lift from the marina and it was only around the corner from there. It was central for the Marina Grande, the Port and many lanes of shops and restaurants. The staff were extremely courteous/friendly and the breakfast buffet was fab. However, I didn't come to Sorrento to workout. I loved everything. Not enough closet space for four of us for 5 nights. The double bed was one of the worst I have ever slept in but my kids thought the sofa bed was really comfortable - I kept trying to get them to swap!! There was no duvet just a sheet so I put blankets from the cupboard on the bed but I was still cold. You can't use your own kettle in the room. The pillows could be softer. The bedroom walls were very thin and we heard bathroom noises from next door!. The sheets and blankets were somewhat uncomfortable (strange fabric). After midnight all the lights went off in the corridors and had to get the night porter to turn them on to get to the room. They should provide tea and coffee in the room. The mattresses and pillows are a bit hard and could be a bit more 'luxurious'. The breakfast but it was not bad but not the best. The beds weren't very comfortable as they we're quiet hard! Also the walls were very thin so you could hear other rooms toilets flushing! In saying that, neither we're so bad that I would not recommend the hotel to someone going to sorrento!. We had a bit of trouble sleeping because the beds and pillows were so hard. The shutters on the windows rattle if the wind gets up, as was the case during our stay, not a very nice view on one side of the hotel. The Mosquitos by the pool area were annoying but nothing to do with hotel. Absolutely nothing. A little pricey for the accommodations. The beds were uncomfortable. Poolside marble floor was very slippery. Very uncomfortable beds, outdated appliances, especially hairdrier and phones. Unwxpected given ambiance. These have been highlighted before the noise from toilet flush in other rooms and the stiff beds. There was nothing that we did not like. Too few parasols for the number of beds at the pool. People were coming early morning to set up position with parasol and then left to have breakfast and later lunch!. Absolutely nothing. Expensive for hotel which saw its heyday thirty years ago. The hotel is a bit "old fashion" but it has a charm too. Dogs barking and fighting/growling outside at night. Room was a little small, but adequate for our 2 night stay. Nothing. No complaints. Very decent 4* establishment. If you want something better in the area it will cost 3x as much. The bed was soft and uncomfortable. Beds hard and same with pillows, pool area a bit dissapointing. I was upgraded to a room with a view, but had very noise neighbours and vehicles outside reving motors in the early hours. Room 206 has very hard beds, with what felt like plastic materess protectors. sheets were thread bare food wasn't the best. no negatives. nothing. needs more parking facilities.
