The staff was very friendly and polite. The rooms are sparse but we didnot spend our time there, we spent most of our time walking about Rome.However, the room was very clean and neat and the breakfast buffet wasvery nice. While they are far from most of the sites, they are veryclose to the metro so getting around is quite easy. Overall, I reallyenjoyed this hotel, will stay again. the reception staff were very helpful, the room exceeded all expectations.the breakfast that was provided was excellent with lots on offer, the location was great as you were near the metro and had the added bonus of a quiet area which you wouldnt get in the city itself.

Well, there is a lot to say about the inconveniences: 1. room to the street very loud (also due to the plane traffic above), bed was uncomfortable (worn mattress), mould in the bathroom. Only one blanket for two people, so if you travel with friends then ask at the reception desk for a second blanket immediately (often only possible the next day).It is not easy to find the hotel the first time that comes for Metro (Underground, Subway). - breakfast must be improved (to little), although it was tasteful. It was a 5 days stay, but the towels wasn't change. It was a little bit noisily, because of the landing airplanes on Ciampino.the room could be cleaner (ants ...), we didn't like their restaurant (choice, staff). Not convenient to fco and transportation had a difficult time findingit. The receptionist that checked us in was wonderful, willing to helpand give information and even spoke English. The gals that were at thedesk most of the time were very unfriendly. They did not make an effortto assist and became very impatient that we could not speak Italian,even tho' we tried to communicate.Rooms showed their age and the bathrooms had a bit of mildew. Rooms smelled of cigarette smoke. The breakfast was very poor. There was a smell coming from the toilette.Well I arrived at 23.30pm at night and had emailed the hotel to tell them that I was a late check-in and what was the procedure. I heard nothing back I ended up not meeting anyone at all from the hotel and was buzzed up to my room! This was realy off putting as it is not a great looking area at night. the mattess i slept on is horrible, it's not flat and i feel very uncomfortable. it's noisy outside but maybe that's that's same to most Rome hotels, because they drive motorcycles so fast and loudly.The bathroom had mould and a funny smell, and was very noisy in the morning (8:00 am), also, the breakfast lady didn't speak English, so it makes it very difficult to express what one needs!. The worst thing is that the walls are paper thin. If anyone is talking at night time in a room close by you can hear them clearly. I had to knock on a door 10m metres from our room to ask them not to talk so loudly.A bit noisy. lift did not worked, room wasn't clean. The breakfast in the morning was very basic.The mugs for coffee/tea were dirty and clearly had not been washed properly.The staff were not very friendly and could only speak Italian.The rooms have terrible sound proofing and all noises from neighbouing rooms can be heard including doors opening,televisions and even people walking accross the floor. It was a long way from the centre, however the underground is nearby and we were able to get into town without any problems.

City Guest House focuses on delivering good food in a great atmosphere, which attracts both our hotel guests and the local community, rather than simply being seen as an extension of the hotel.
To create this duality we called the restaurant "Accasadì" which translates "At your home", in fact the atmosphere is very warm. Wooden parquet floors, elegant boisarie and a careful study in details tied to old roman "trattorias" (tables and chairs for example).
Our chef places emphasis on using local products and the very best Italian ingredients to produce a sumptuous menu.
The pizza is made from a wood oven, like it used to be made once upon a time...

Information about the area

The area is called Tuscolana. It is a middle class residential neighbourhood. Unlike the historical centre, tourists here are seen as giving touch of colour to the area and are treated respectfully rather than "just another tourist" as may be in the "hyper" busy historical centre. Restaurants and shops are targeted to Italians therefore cheaper and of better quality compared to the well known "tourist traps"... having said this in no way we want to undermine the spectacular beauty of Rome's Historical centre, we simply want to encourage a humanly enriching experience whilst visiting the "eternal city".

The Guest House is located in the Tuscolana area (south-east Rome), metro stop Numidio Quadrato.
City Guest House of Rome is conveniently located close (honestly, a 2 minute walk) to the Numidio Quadrato stop on the Linea A underground. Once you are out of the station,if you are coming from the city center cross the Tuscolana, you will see a watch shop called De Stefano, to the left of the shop is Via Cartagine, follow the road onto Via dei Lateranesi and you will arrive(100 mt.) on Viale Opita Oppio. At number 76/78 on your left hand side, City Guest House of Rome will appear just in front of you. Ring at City Guest House.

Transportation:
The underground stop of Numidio Quadrato at only 100 meters - Ten minutes to P.zza di Spagna (13 underground stops), 8 minutes for Termini station (10 stops). 20 minutes for the new stop of the Vatican Museum (17 stops).

Connections:
If you're arriving at Rome Leonardo Da Vinci airport you need to get the train service to Rome Termini. There you get the subway Linea A southwards (towards Anagnina)and get off at Numidio Quadrato. The total time for this trip is of around 45 to 60 minutes. from Ciampino, you get a bus to Anagnina subway station (15 minute bus ride) and at Anagnina grab subway to Numidio Quadrato (5 minute ride). Once at Numidio Quadrato follow directions from map, a two minute walk to the guest house.

Finding us by car is straightforward too. Coming in Rome from the highway, either from south or North, you will have to get on the Raccordo anulare which is the "ring" road, which circumnavigates Rome. Each exit is numbered. City Guest House exit is number 21, which stands for Tuscolana Roma Centro. Once on the Tuscolana (approx around Via Tuscolana 643 "Pizzeria Le Streghe") after 5 km turn left (after Via degli Scipioni) for Via Opimiani, at the second crossing you reach Viale Opita Oppia, at #78 is City Guest House.
