All the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive and professional. I work in the service industry and it is rare to come acoss truly excellent service, such as my wife and I experienced. Hotel was lovely and location good, personnel was very friendly and breakfast was "super". This was a beautiful hotel with excellent facilities in a great location. convienance, good facilities.

The staff at reception were very helpful and professional.The room was quite basic and we were a little dissapointed with the fairly cheap feel of the furnishings. We would prefer more modern bedlinen instead of old blankets. If we have had our kids with us, they were not allowed to use sauna and pool (only 18 years and above!?!?). So I would not recommend the hotel for families with kids.The room was very basic and needed to be refurbished. The shower had no form of barrier from the rest of the bathroom and so the water would spray everywhere. The breakfast was minimal. Food at breakfast was only adequate, not up to 4 star standard,inadequate car parking. Spa and fitness centre very difficult tounderstand and use.Room was small and air con was broken and constantly on so cold at night!. rooms are old and small, aircondition can´t be switched off. The room was shabby and depressing. We had to kill several flies too. I was not told were to sit in breafastroom when there seamd to besome systen there, tv signal at my room was not good. Just like myengelish :). Front desk staff not friendly and breakfast too old fashion. The bedrooms are very disappointing to say the least. Very poor decor,terrible views we asked to move twice!. Rooms very old, not clean enough, hairdryer out of work, heating only handled by the reception, tv old, decoration/furniture reminds you of the 80s (probably because this is when the room was last renovated). The staff in the resturant were exceptional poor. They were poorly trained and did not ensure the customers had a good start to the day. They were slow to serve, never ever cleared used plates and other crockery from the table. Breakfast food selection was poor especially the hot and was always running out. Dinner was no better and very much over priced.The rooms at the back of the hotel were truly appalling. It three attempts before we found a room we could tolerate. Whoever gave them 4 stars is delusional. They have no concept of customer service.

Information about the area

Garda Trentino is lapped by the waters of the largest lake in Italy and boasts a special climate making it the northern-most Mediterranean region in Europe. Culture, nature and history collide in this region.

-A range of attractive walking trails are on the hotel doorstep. Enjoy the promenade path which has been extended round the lake as far as Torbole . It is a traffic-free 45 minute walk with spectacular views. There is pleasant walking around Arco, an old spa town which is situated 3kms from Riva. There are more demanding hikes in the wooded mountain trails among the olive trees of Mount Brione. and a visit to the spectacular Varone waterfalls and rocky gorge is a must. Climb up to the ruined fortress and chapel of Santa Barbara, set on a hillside and boasting superb panoramic views over the lake.

-Within easy reach of Riva by boat or local bus is the lakeside town of Malcesine with Monte Baldo, a unique botanic garden (reached by cable car) with many species of rare flowers and a rich variety of fauna and flora. There is also a small arboretum in nearby Arco which is worth a visit.

-Most forms of watersports are catered for and there are facilities for sailing, boating and pedaloes. This area is one of the best in Europe for windsurfing. There is an excellent sports centre with swimming pool and children's pool, tennis and squash courts and children's play area. Off road cycle routes have been opened linking Riva and Torbole with Arco and Varone.

Travelling information

BY CAR:
-Take the A22 (Modena-Brennero) motorway
-Exit at South Rovereto - North Lake Garda which is 17km away from Riva.
-Head south and it is possible to exit at Trento Centre and then headalong the SS45b for about 40km towards Riva del Garda.
BY BUS:
-To reach Trentino Garda by bus, there are connecting services direct from Trento and Rovereto (Atesina Bus); from Verona and Desenzano (A.P.T.V. Bus); from Brescia and Milan (S.I.A. Bus) and during the summer season (from mid June till the end of September) also from Venice (A.P.T.V. Bus) (Monday - Friday, with only one run: Riva 07:00 - Venice 10:30 / Venice 17:15 - Riva 20:20).
BY PLANE:
-The closest airports to Trentino Garda are Verona - Villafranca (Valerio Catullo), Montichiari - Brescia (Gabriele D'Annunzio), Venice (Marco Polo) and Milan (Linate and Malpensa).
-From Verona airport: A.P.T.V. connecting bus service every 20 minutes to Verona train and bus stations (travel time 15 minutes). From there you can catch an A.P.T.V. bus to Riva (two hours) or take a train to Rovereto (50 minutes) and then an Atesina bus to Riva (45 minutes).
-From Montichiari - Brescia airport bus service to the Brescia bus and train stations (only 4 or 5 per day).
-From Milan Linate- bus service every 30 minutes to Milan's central train station (traveling time around 25 minutes).
-From Venice airport: connecting bus service every 30 minutes to Mestre and Venice train stations. Airports- Brescia, Milan, Venice, Verona.
BY TRAIN:
-The closest train stop is Rovereto (Brennero line) which is 20km away from Riva del Garda. Atesina bus service connects Rovereto to Torbole, Riva and Arco.
-If coming by train, from Milan or Venice, there is the option of stopping at Desenzano, Peschiera or Verona train stations.
- From here you can take the A.P.T.V. bus (Verona's Provincial Transport Company) heading towards Riva.
