Everything! It was the best place where we stayed during our 10 days trip. Hosts are really nice, friendly and helpful. You feel there like at home. the place is located just in te center of Mandello. Besides the rooms to sleep owners have their own restaurant and wine place. Food is really delicious, so does wine!:) Rooms are spacious, and neat. Bathrooms are clean and nice. Morover owners have the bikes, which you can rent for free and eg see the town. I strongly recommend it. I really enjoye.
all reviews » Wonderful hotel with restaurant. Very comfortable, cosy and clean room. The owners are very gentle and friendly. Perfect place for romantic vacation. That smal and quiet town has beautiful embankment and park, memorable architecture, beautiful church with the bell tower. The views on Lake and mountains are gorgeous. It takes only 15-20 min by train to get to Varenna, about 1 hour and 15 min to Milan or to Bergamo (tickets are possible to buy at newspaper's shop in front of railway station). H. The Hotel was attached to the restaurant and the food was wonderful. Very nice staff, arranged our rooms so that I could be closer to my friend. The staff was very attentive and helped us with transportation questions, too. Breakfast was good-with eggs upon request. Mandello is a nice little town that is not overrun by tourists. There are several restaurants within walking distance and a beautiful area with benches where the ferry docks. There is also a park with lovely views of the lake. This was my ninth trip to Italy; I stayed at Mamma Ciccia every time. That probably says more than anything else. My advice would be to make this your final hotel of your itinerary--this is where you'll want to wind down and relax. If you are a Moto Guzzi rider, this is where you should stay when you're in Mandello del Lario. It was 5min wall from train station. The room was clean an comfortable but no fridge. It was a quiet small town with easy train access to Milan. We ate at the Mamma Ciccia resturant and had a lovely meal. When we in beginning of April the own was still mostly closed as it is no quite tourist season yet. We were given a warm welcome and found everything to our liking. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and simple. There is free parking just five minutes away or the train station is also relatively nearby. Nice continental breakfast in the morning. The train station was a 10 minute walk from the hotel. People with mobility issues might have a problem with steps to a higher floor, since there is no lift. Perhaps our expectations were too high?. The room was located right above th street and was a. It noisy - especially in the evening. There was no ac, which forsed us to open the window - and hear the people out side. Although the location was nice, there wasn't any parking space - and on our first day it was a challenge to find one close by. Gap in middle of bed. Poor weather( but couldn't be helped). nothing. no elevator difficult stairs. Travel time to Milan is long. Better for lakeside leisure than Milan based business. But the views make up for it. Our room overlooked a bar and noisy until 1.00am and then residents leaving for work from 4.00am meant we didn't sleep at all but believe the back rooms were quiet. Lack of air conditioning, the room was a bit too warm. Nothing. poor breakfast, some rooms need more cleaning and attention. Staff speaks pore English. No airco. - We wanted to visit Bellagio and there's no boat going from Mandello del Lario (only in the Summer). So we had to take a train to Varenna; - The mattress of the double bed is two single mattress put together; - There's a lot of stairs and no elevator (consider taking a backpack instead of luggage); - The menu of the restaurant is not conventional and have little options of food, which didn't taste so good. And there's not many restaurants near the hotel. very simple, poor, very poor sound insulation (in the evening heard the noise and music from the restaurant and in the morning slamming door neighbor). nowhere seen such a poor and a long breakfast! Half an hour is carried on all the tables, one croissant, terrible coffee and a little yogurt! all sat and waited, but nothing has brought more! the worst hotel. hostess save on everything!.
