We had a fantastic stay at Villa Cheli! Our room had direct access to the front balcony and for two days we felt we had our own private Villa in Italy! In addition to the kind staff, and nice accommodations, we had one of the best dinners of our trip through Italy at Villa Cheli! The Tagliatelle Villa Cheli, and the grilled beef, were delizioso!. Everything about it! The location is beautiful, the restaurant food is excellent, and the service is outstanding! We had a minor problem in our bathroom and brought it to the staff's attention in the morning as we were leaving for our day's outing. When we returned everything was taken care of. Absolutely great service and value for your money.
all reviews » We liked almost everything. The staff were friendly and helpful, room was clean and well furnished, food (both breakfast and evening meal) was good and reasonably priced. Swimming pool was great though there wasn't enough shade- I guess that would improve as the plants and shrubs grew- I think everything was newly planted. The staff was outstanding. I left a small but valuable personal item and they found it immediately and kept it until we could return days later to claim it. The location is ideal for day trips to Pisa and Lucca. The rooms are functional and the grounds gracious. Excellent parking. Villa Cheli was such a beautiful gem. Large stately building with such beautiful spacious rooms. We sat out on the balcony and enjoyed late afternoon drink. We opted to have dinner at the hotel and we were not disappointed! The meal was fantastic!. Beautiful Italian villa just outside Lucca and also close to Pisa and not too far from Florence to go for the day so perfectly placed. Very helpful and friendly staff. Very good food in the evenings. The staff was eager to help and seemed to make us fell special. The rooms were large and the bed comfortable. Villa Cheli is a townhouse with more than 200 years of history and is located conveniently outside of Lucca. Comfortable rooms with decent facilities, good food for breakfast and for dinner. The staff are very helpful. Stylish villa with nice historic atmosphere,quiet surrounding,great pool with no time limitations(we started a day early morning with swimming and finished with late evening swimming and were wery satisfied). Lovely property. We had a huge room with everything we needed. Perfectly located and easy to find. Staff were fantastic, learning Italian from them was a highlight. It was clean and very good breakfast , we had dinner in a ggod restorat "cecca" that is near the villa ... Excellent location for visiting Lucca. Very friendly staff.Good swimming pool. Pleasant setting for dining. an amazing location, great pool area and staff accomodated us with a 4th bed which was absolutely great !. Staff were friendly and place was very relaxing especially after the travelling. Lovely building upon arrival Good value Near lucca. We booked a standard room, but this was in the attic and we didn't have a window- just a skylight in the roof that we couldn't see out of. We were told in the hotel information that some rooms were in attic so really it's no reflection on the hotel- next time I would book a superior room. The lobby and welcome area is dark and cluttered. It does not fit the elegance of the rest of the property. Everything was perfect, nothing not to like. Not enough sunbeds and people were reserving them!! Plenty of room for sunbeds for all so they need to go out and buy a few more! Breakfast ok but not great for the standard of hotel and in comparison with the food in the evenings. The safe was on the floor in the armoire and too difficult to use. I was bitten on my face four times by Mosquitos in the room. Breakfast bufee was quite common with no fresh vegetables(tomatoes,cucambers...) and was all days the same. The metal driveway and parking area was a little hard to manage with suitcases with wheels. Not really a fault but you will need a car. There is a bus that goes to Lucca and one that goes to Pisa but outside of that a car is necassary. Our family room on the third floor was plenty big enough for four people but the ceiling had a large wooden beam that descended down over one of the single beds, causing us to repeatedly bang our head. Nothing serious but a hazard for adults or taller kids. Was not sent directions to villa, which is difficult to find. Like anywhere in Italy the breakfast and Wifi are poor. There is a road nearby. You cannot hear it from the hotel but it would be nice if the villa was far from any roads, cars, etc - just my vision of holidays in Toskany:). "Gym" not so, very difficult to get anywhere if you don't have a car. The room was very small (with very low ceilings) and the AC wasn't working very well so it didn't get below 85 degrees in the room which is a little uncomfortable when trying to sleep, relax. The service at dinner was terrible. We waited nearly an hour to be served. Others were waiting an hour between courses. It was a shame as it let the hotel down. Nothing. Should offer to book a taxi at airport as it is very hard to pre book one to the villa cheli. We got ripped off, paying 90 euros instead of the 45 it was supposed to be. One nice member of staff, but when we asked for a nightcap glass of wine at 11 pm the man ( night staff? ) could not have been ruder. Slamming bottle down, then glasses, and very angry?! Shame! Apart from the one girl , staff were not bothered if you actually existed . Also changed us to a poorer room after specific email I had send agreed a room in a photo- given the room to someone else. Could have been the perfect stay....
