A true surprise. The exterior, which is quite 60's non-descript (and in fact, a bit ugly), hides a very pleasant surprise inside. The room and bathroom were both very pleasant and clean, the staff (lots of smiles, something quite rare these days) was very friendly and helpful, the breakfast and breakfast room with panoramic views were very nice, and the restaurant immediately downstairs was of very good value and quality. All in all, an excellent choice for both seasoned and unseasoned travelle.
all reviews » A very pleasant surprise as I was expecting a slightly jaded hotel. However, our bedroom was very smart and the bathroom was fantastic - newly fitted. The location is brilliant - right in the centre of town. The breakfast was fantastic - plenty of choice and excellent quality. We ate both nights in their restaurant - seemed to be the busiest in town and obviously a favourite with the locals. I would recommend this hotel as the standard for the price paid was excellent. Rooms were large, clean and beautiful. There was a fridge in the room for family drinks etc. our three boys slept in the room with three singles and we had a separate attached room. Perfect for a family. The owners were so very nice and really fantastic with the kids (they even brought each of them a tray of local cookies). The breakfast was one of the best we've had at B&B's. we will definatly be coming back!!. Parking, a premium in these medieval Sicilian towns, was available. Hotel reception assisted with parking one day when only parking available was in a limited zone. The room was quite enough and had a nice outlook. Our room looked like the sort of room a mafia hit man might stay in while in town. Classic. Breakfast was good with a view over part of the town through a very large window. A very pleasant suprise. There is an excellent restaurant of 50 years standing which moved to the hotel a few months ago; it was well patronised by local people. The hotel is on a hill with wonderful views. Swifts (swallows?) fly about morning and evening, swooping and soaring. Breakfast on the terrace is very special, not only for the views but also for the excellent food and superb coffee. Nice location - the room had a balcony overlooking a charming little piazza, and the hotel is central for visits to items of interest. The breakfast room has stunning views over the town below. Also a local restaurant Ristorante Centrale, 6 min walk served typical very good Sicilian food including 20 choice of antipasti, service was excellent, highly recommended. Internet connection wouldn't work in our room, but that was because we were placed in the last room of a wing which is where we wanted to be to get the quite I search for. Shower recess was small though manageable. Minor comment - the breakfast itself didn't quite live up to the expectations generated by the rest of the our experiences of this hotel. The room was perhaps smaller than we had hoped for, but it seems a very minor quibble. As usual, it's parking. We were lucky to find even an illegal parking spot, and although the staff very kindly moved our car into a legal one, we didn't dare move it for a trip out in case there was nowhere to park when we got back. No English channels on the TV. A lot of noise comes from the corridor. The doors make a lot of noise when they are locked so you hear your neighbours come and go. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. I know this isn't a problem of the hotel but the downtown streets around the hotel had lots of garbage with unpleasant smell. nothing. Price a bit above average, if compared to other locations in Sicily. wifi not possible in the room. the room was a bit cramped for this much money. Breakfast also a bit ordinary for such a place. (no eggs; cheerios instead of granola ...) Not top value for money. Breakfast could be better. Did not appear very clean. Breakfasts were pretty mediocre. The TV didn't really work. No hot water. Staff could be more friendly. Hotel is mainly for bus load tourist and rooms are poor, drains needs cleaning ,tv not working. Price too high for what it is.
