Hotel San Michele is located inside of one of the oldest buildings of Cortona, the ancient Baldelli Palace, strategically located right in the heart of town. The Baldelli Palace is a 15th-century mansion restored according to its original features and considered by various guides a true example of Cortona's architectural splendour. The Italian Ministry of Art, declared the building hosting Hotel San Michele part of the National Heritage. Just 100 metres away you will find the Sant'Agostino Conference Centre. The hotel offers 43 unique rooms, each one featuring ancient furniture and equipped with modern services and comforts. The rooms have wooden beams and the windows offer views of the rooftops and the views over the valley. A buffet-style breakfast is available daily. San Michele is the only hotel in the centre of Cortona to have a private car park. If travelling by car enter the city gate in Via Guelfa, transit is allowed for hotel customers 24 hours a day.

This is a delightful hotel, our favourite on this trip. Typical Tuscan style, great location and lovely breakfast, The rooms are very spacious, we had a separate sitting room.The staff was very friendly/helpful, they made extra effort to take care of their guests. Great central location.

It would be preferable if they had wholemeal bread at breakfast.This was the most expensive hotel for overnight car parking of our holiday; 20 euro a night the next most expensive was 13 euro.Well managed.Great breakfast.Professional staff.it's on a step hill!. Staff, although professional and polite, could have been more friendly. Lack of any information about the area, maps etc.It is at the top of a narrow steep street, but that is what you should expect in Cortona, and once at the hotel its situation was a big advantage.Noisy plumbing especially late at night and early in the morning.During the winter time better to use small aррartment on the first floor, big aррartment on the ground floor is quite cold.breakfast not up to previous standards. Air conditioning in our room failed. Some of the ccommon areas of the hotel could have been kept at a higher temperature to make them more useable - in particular, the lounge on second floor was cold.Expensive - not justified by the facilities and service offered.
