Absolutely wonderful apartment which felt like home. Extremely spacious as we had the quadruple apartment with one bedroom, a spacious living room/dining room & fully equipped kitchen. As it is a self reliant rental, you will need to pick up some tp is needed & I recommend bringing a few garbage bags to sort your recyclables from bio garbage instead of having to buy a box of them during your stay. The family is wonderful and accommodating. We enjoyed a free wine tasting with a bus tour .
all reviews » We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The Gerbera unit we stayed in was large , attractive & close enough to the excellent pool area. Good kitchen facilities were provided but with a couple of lovely restaurants a few kilometeres away in Barberino we didnt cook much.We made day trips to Florence , the Chianti area & San Gimignano - all within less than an hour's drive.In addition the Sant' Appiano area was good for walking & running and to top it off staying in a high quality vineyar. The apartment was very well located in a peaceful area - just perfect to relax and enjoy your vacation with whole family. Because of our "out-of-season" stay we had whole garden and swimming pool privately for us. The price was more then friendly. Our feeling of the stay was just perfect. The view was incredible. Lots of room for your money. No shower but of all the places we stayed, this is the place we said we could see staying there again for an extended amount of time. Quiet and peaceful. Staff wonderful. Farm has been in existence since 15th century. Fairy tale in Toscana.... We stayed only one night but we enjoyed: the nature, the view to the vineyards, the beautiful swimming pool, an excellent restaurant nearby... The old wine cellar of the owner is a rarity that you must see, and the vine... Great location close to Siena and San San Gimignano, great appartement, peaceful environment and very friendly staff. Location, pool, air con, size of apartments, patio. Fabulous restaurant in walking distance but you should book. Perfect view. Friendly house holders. Taisty selfmade local vine. Countryside designed rooms with fireplace. Good location for day visits to Siena, Firenze, Certaldo etc Enjoyed Thea wine tasting and purchased wines. Location and owner family. No shower but had tub with spray attachment. Could only find one English speaking channel on tv but not a big deal. The information on booking website is a bit misleading as the place does not have its own restaurant and they do not serve meals. The restaurant is in the village, 5 minutes walk from appartement house. Would be good if a sofa was provided and there were English channels on the tv. Lacked several lounge chairs. TV did not appear to have English languages channels... BBC or CNN ?.

The Sant’Appiano Farm consists of 15 hectares of vineyards, extending in a south-east position, at an altitude of 280 metres. The soil is mostly sandy-tuff and in some parts rich in fossils and grit. Mr Domenico Cappelli has passed on his love of farming and respect for the environment to his sons and grandsons which is why the farm is run as a family concern with the owners taking direct responsibility for production and sales. Family traditions are combined with the most innovative, dynamic and modern wine-producing
methods.

The farming estate produces Chianti wine, olive oil and grappa.

By Car:
- Take the Autostrada del Sole.
- Exit at Firenze-Certosa.
- Drive through the tollgate.
- Turn right, taking the highway Firenze/Siena, in the direction of Siena.
- Exit at Tavarnelle Val di Pesa.
- Follow the signs for Tavarnelle.
- After about 5 km, drive through the village of Tavarnelle until you arrive at the village of Barberino Val d'Elsa (after 2 km).
- After the main square, turn right following the signs for Certaldo - S. Appiano.
- After about 3 km, turn left in the direction of Vico d'Elsa/S.Appiano.
- After about 2 km, turn left again, following the signs for S. Appiano.
- In S. Appiano you will see a church; turn left into the first small road after the church (you will see the hotel's signs).
- Stop in the square near the big yellow house: ask for Mr. Bertini, he will accompany you at your apartment.
