The welcome of the owner and the hotel in general were top quality. The fact that they offer the dining room facilities - free drinks and cakes all afternoon is worth going here for alone! Probably the first time I've had breakfast and afternoopn tea in the price of the room. Breakfast is sweet or savoury which is rare in italy. There is also a computor available in reception, which is great. The central position is fantastic and no problem to find from either the bus station or the town piazza.
all reviews » I liked everything about it. It is right off one of the little streets in the piazza commune so you're centrally located. It's clean, friendly and very beautiful. The price was outstanding. You're crazy if you don't stay here. The breakfast is excellent and one added perk which I thought was very sweet. The staff let us know we could make coffee or tea whenever we wanted and extended that courtesy when we told them we had to leave early in the morning. If I ever go back to Italy I would without. I love this places the staff when out of there way to help and its in a fantastic setting within the walls of Assisi, it serves a fantastic continual breakfast even throws in afternoon tea with a range of cakes, it also has a Michelin star restronant which is very reasonable. I did my research as I was on a private pilgrimage so wanted somewhere which was best placed four all the main sites, this hotel is right in the center of the most important part of Assisi. Lovely hotel. Beautiful and quiet location. The hotel staff are lovely and really do anything to make you comfortable and happy. They are so nice and generous, providing tea and coffee and homemade cakes and biscuits for their guests in a space with a stunning view over the city. The perfect place to stay in a really special city. Second time at the la fortezza, set in a quet area just off the main square, staff are friendly & helpful, the rooms are basic but big enough with tv, breakfast is good just typical italian good cup of coffee. A quiet 2 night stay. The hotel resaurant is a must very good food. Loved the location and that we could help ourselves to tea and coffee etc in the dining area which had a fantastic view over Assisi. Could eat breakfast on the outdoor balcony from the dining room. We liked the tea time, the breakfast was good for Italy standards, the location was perfect, the room was warm (November holiday), there was a free Assisi guide and Assisi card. Bathrooms are an italian thing to get used to! But my most inconvenient detail was the old uncomfortable matress. Maybe they are also different in each room but mine did stop me from having a good night's sleep. The neighbouring tourists who left rather noisily early in the morning were also disturbing, but tourists really must learn to respect others when they leave early or arrive late. I could hear everything!. I had no negative comments. The only downside are the steps leading up to the hotel but not a big problem. If I can do it anyone can. Bad soundproof in the room, the chair in our room was broken, impossible to use it. The bed creaked. No fruits, vegetables or eggs for breakfast. Beds in our room were too hard for my tastes. There was no shower screen or curtain. The bathroom was adequate but the shower was rather messy as no wall or curtain protected the rest of the bathroom from all the water. Little bit run down. Showers need an upgrade.
