We enjoyed a lot: the hospitality of all the staff, the big house, the cottage, the horses!! We were given a really beautiful cottage even if we've booked a double room. We enjoyed the also the countryside, the riding was spectacular! Good the location for a lot of activities and attraction around Hella. I definetively reccomend Heistemar for 2 or more days. + Friendliness of personal in hotel and horse barn + Although we didn't get the booked category (double room with private bathroom) the owner was flexible enough to offer us an alternative, a small discount and a 'free' horse ride to compensate for the discomfort + The location is idyllic and horses are fantastic.
all reviews » We are family of 5 (parents + 3 adults). We stayed two nights at Hestheimar (2 rooms). Nice rooms, nice views, horses outside. Also hot tub. Good family atmosphere, very welcoming. Rich breakfast (we also had good dinner). Owner was wonderful, she made us feel at home. Great cottage accommodations, very clean and comfortable. We didn't make it for dinner, but breakfast was great, too. Love the farm setting (and the kids did too). The place is very friendly, and comfortable. Breakfast is excellent. We had a misunderstanding regarding cooking facilities but they gave us a kitchen they have beside the stable that was more than fully equipped. Stunned by passionate owners and staff completely devoted to their horse-farm. Very nice, friendly family atmosphere. Stunning views from the hill overseeing Hekla. Delicious food. A free upgrade to a private cabin with own hot tub. A whole kitchen and living room and entire cabin to ourselves! Beautiful location on a horse farm. Option to take a horse riding tours at the farm. Not getting the booked category and having to sleep in the room next to the dinning room (noisy). WE GOT A COMPENSATION FOR THE DISCOMFORT THOUGH (see plus section). The 3rd bed in the kids room is a folding bed, not very comfortable (the same case also in other places we stayed in). A bit far from any restaurants or anything to do besides horseback riding. The cold water line froze so we could not take a shower in the morning since that water was too hot. Far, not easy to find especially at night, male staff was not very friendly. No tea/coffee in room or permitted in room, Difficulty in finding someone on arrival, No daily cleaning, Poor sheets and pillows, lack of communication from owners. The rooms are over heated by an under floor heating pipes, with any ability to control the temp. It was a nightmare.
