the hotel is amazing! its very new and the sea-view room has a wonderful view of the village and the sea. the location is not in the middle of the town but very nearby the beach. the room is very well decorated and the facilities are excellent. The Epavlis is spotlessly clean. Very well decorated and very pleasing on the eye. Very close to the beach and restaurants. Beautiful sunrises.

Everything was perfect. I am a hiker so the walk from the bus stop was not a huge issue but if you were unhealthy it might. Getting off at the second bus stop in Kumari helps. The shower ran a little hot and cold but not unacceptably so. Staff is quiet inefficient. The hotel manager and his wife could smile to their guests to make them feel welcomed. Service was good, but cold from them. Staff (owner and wife) didn't seem to mind yelling at employees in front of guests.The receptionist. When we did our check out, not smily at all. Also, weasked for a wake-up call that was never done. Not very reliable. Lack of description of the hotel location makes it difficult to locate when we first arrived.The pool bar can have more english drinks. ...when they were available! They were noticeably absent from reception at times when we phoned for help during the day. Also, the lack of internet availability in the room wouldn't have bothered me if the network in the lobby area was at least working properly... not so good for the workaholic-type holiday maker...!. Probably the stuff could be a bit friendlier although they were tryingto be helpful. Occasionally left the reception unmanned. Also, thelocation is not the one shown on the map. The hotel is at the far end ofKamari under the rock which is approximately 5minutes walk to the busstation and 10 minutes walk to the center of Kama. The water of the shower was not keeping the set temperature. It was becoming suddenly very hot or very cold. This happened all the week despite we told the hotel staff about the problem on the very first day.not much selection of food. The rooms are not always facing the sea. Some balconies/porches face other rooms. This is okay, but we were just expecting a view of the sea.The breakfast could be imporved to include fresh fruit / juices and just a better selection. the staff were hopeless but it didnt bother me. Staff wasn't as friendly as other places we stayed, but I feel that was due to their ability to speak/understand english was lessor than the other places we stayed. We didn't feel as welcomed as we did as the other places but again, I think the language barrier is the reason why.

Information about the area

Kamari is a beach resort situated 8 km south-east of Fira. The general landscape is an impressive long and inviting black sandy beach, characterised by an enormous rock called Mesa Vouno that rises from the sea. The area offers a great landscape, especially at night, when the rock is lighted. The houses of the village line the beach and offer a nice walk (volta) by the sea. This area is more crowded and offers a bigger diversity of hotels, rooms, restaurants, snacks, cafés, bars and night clubs.

The beach of Kamari is fully organised and offers all kinds of facilities like sun chairs, umbrellas and different types of water sports. From Kamari, a road takes you up the mountain to Ancient Thira, and a caique (traditional fishing boat) can bring you to the wild isle of Anafi.

Travelling information

By Boat:
There are boat services to Santorini from Piraeus' Port near Athens, provided by small ferries and large passenger boats. The trip by ferry is 9 to 10 hours and by high-speed ferry is 4 to 5 hours.

During the period April through October, it is possible to reach Paros, Naxos, Ios, Santorini, and Crete (Iraklio) by boat from Santorini. Information may be obtained from the Santorini Port Authority or any travel agent.

If you are considering traveling deck class, keep in mind that it is possible for the winds to be chilly even in July and August.

By Plane:
Olympic Airways and Aegean Cronus Airlines operate daily flights to Santorini from Athens International Airport at Spata. The flight is approximately 45 minutes. During the summer, flights to Santorini are available from Thessaloniki. The flight is approximately 1 to 1.5 hours long depending on the type of aircraft. There are also direct flights to Mykonos. There is a bus service that connects the town of Fira to the Santorini airport at Monolithos.
