  The entire staff was superb! Heidi was most friendly, helpful and engaging. The hotel is clean. The rooms and bathrooms are clean. The breakfast was ample and fresh. The food from the restaurant was outstanding. Alken is a pretty village on the Mosel River. Convenient to boat tours and the walk by the water. The Burg Thurant is right up the hill.... what people say » Close to Cochem and Eltz castle. I would stay there again. - Loved the location right on the Mosel. A quiet road between hotel and river. We had a picnic supper on the river on a glorious evening. The hotel was very attractive inside and out, with cosy drinking and eating areas in traditional German country style. Bedrooms viewed either the river or Schloss Thurant on the hill behind. Owner friendly and interested in our comfort and welfare.

  We booked two bedroom apartment at Alkenerweg 8. It was quite big - 5 adults and 2 kids had enough space. The kitchen facilities are OK (dish washer was a great help). The view from the balcony is excellent - wineyard, then Mosel and hills. The apartment has dedicated parking place. The price is great. Oberfell is very good home base to make day t... what people say » rips along Rhein and Mosel, as it is quite close to the autobahn and both river valleys. - It was perfect for our family. There is a grocery store near by, so we could eat at home. There is a great bakery right around the corner. It is a great base to see the Mosel and the Rhine and all the beauty the area has to offer.
