We were hiking the Rheinsteig and Hotel Zu Den Bergen was very handy to the track (near Marksberg [castle]). Our hotel room was spacious, modern and very clean, as was the ensuite bathroom. A large breakfast was included in the room price consisting of eggs, meats, breads, cheese, cereals, fruit yoghurt and tea/coffee.

Simple but you don’t need more for that money and location. This is an older building without fancy TV etc. which I didn’t need anyway. We got a lovely breakfast and we were the only ones in the hotel.

the hotel web site says that it has an on site car park which it has not .I had to try and park in a small public car park 100 meters up the steep hill .next to the car park at the top was a small overgrown area which belonged the hotel but I did not feel my motorcycle would be safe there that is why wanted on site parking .
The room was quite cold. The shower did not stay hot very long. The
location was a little far from the train station and kd boat dock, but
taxi service was available for a very reasonable charge. There were lots
of good restaurants near this hotel. The hotel staff should have more
information about tours to the castles nearby.
