I love this place and have stayed 3 times. It would not be suitable for someone who is not physically fit as it is on the side of a mountain and requires walking up and down alot. I know that I will return. Hirschhorn is a wonderful place to stay and with the local train it is only 30 minutes from Heidelberg. Great view of the Neckar River from the patio. The food and beer served out there were reasonably priced and very tasty. The views of the river from our room were amazing and the castle ruins were fun to explore. The town is an easy walk down the hill from the hotel and well worth exploring.

The setting The food Attitude of staff. The food was fantastic. Amazing food. Comfortable bedroom, slightly dated and smelt a bit of grandmother's house. Great view. The castle tower. The village below the castle. We had a teenager with us and it was a little pricey (50 euro more) for him to get a blow up bed on the floor in the room. The staff was very helpful and had it in place quickly, but really not worth 50 euro more. Unfortunately we stayed only one night.This is the only thing that we didn't like... Outdoor seating needed cushions. They need to invest in an indoor guests lounge come bar. Other than the dining rooms there was no where else to sit. Restaurant closed on Monday nights, so we weren't able to try it out. However, we were recommended an excellent option in the town below. Pillows too soft, otherwise comfortable bed. Parking close to a little difficult. Very few people for dinner. Rather too formal dining room. short of staffs. For the price I expected something more comfortable with more service.
