Location...location...location. We could see the Rathaus from our window in the family room, which was a nice size. We walked outside of the hotel into the very center of the old city. Many historic places, the TI, restaurants, shopping, and banks were nearby. The barman/waiter (Martin?) was extremely friendly and helpful, as was the young woman from Bulgaria who prepared our room. My fiance and I were visiting Fussen for a wedding photo shoot with our photographer and make up artist along, we did not notify the hotel of this but when they noticed us walking around the hotel and town in our gowns, they offered a nice little surprise for us which was really sweet. Staff were very friendly and location was convenient.
all reviews » The room was nice with a beautiful street view of Füssen and the staff was friendly, though he knew only a bit English, he tried hard to explain everything to me by using English. We were given a little self contained flat on the back of the hotel which looked like it had just been renovated was really nice & comfortable. The room was very modern and clean. The location is good, centre of the town and only 3 mins from the station by walk. Pets are free of charge. The Ludwig Hotel is very well situated in the main pedestrian plaza. Amenities were all first flight. They even have parking around the back. Our room is big and with a small kitchen. It can be 3 people sleeping inside (nice sofa and extra blanket). Very big flat Samsung TV. Staff friendly, great central location, family room fantastic & even had small kitchen area. Beds comfy, great bathroom, quiet. Everything! Hotel Ludwig put us in a great spot where we could visit the town, go shopping and visit the Neuschwanstein Castle. The central location in Fussen was great as a base to explore the town and the hotel was also an easy drive from the 2 castles. Beautiful big room facing a quiet street. Right in the centre of town and free parking. Since we had been hiking in the Alps, lugging baggage four flights of stairs to the room was not a challenge, but could be for some. Our room with the lovely view was above the somewhat noisy kitchen. Mostly we were too tired to notice. Only draw back was the room is quite small, and entrance to car park is extrememly narrow, which made us really nervous when driving through the alleyway to park our car in the car park. Only problem was the hotel didn't have lift but only stairs, and the stairs were kinda steep and long. Anyway we felt satisfied with this hotel and surely would recommend it to others. The staff were a bit indifferent not the efficient Germans we have experienced in the past we were left for a good 10 mins ringing the bell for reception on the ground floor only to be advised by another guest that it was best to go upstairs to check in because they never bothered manning the reception on the ground floor. The apartment was for 3 persons however the little compact kitchen did not cater for 3 persons we had 2 cups, 1 plate, 2 bowls. Wifi could be better. After 9.30pm, it didn't work at all. (Maybe because the restaurant closed around that time?) No lift. The staff became impatient with our German and their English was minimal at best. Shower water is very hot if you go to red side. I get hurt from hot water because I put water to maximum hot at the beginning. They have two receptions, the one downstairs is for both restaurant and hotel, and they are very busy. Better go to the one upstairs. Room was tucked at back of hotel, we liked it others may prefer more of a view. The stairs we had to climb to get to our room but that is very little because the rest of it was great. The parking was extremely difficult to find and a simple explanation that you can drive briefly in the pedestrian area would be a big help. We're a little put off by the staff at first but did end up with some very friendly and helpful staff. no internet. No bath, or tea n coffee facility... .the room was very small. Our room was pretty small with the couch pulled out for the kids but we were only there to sleep one night. According to the pictures online they must have bigger rooms. Maybe let brekfast go on until 11 am... Just for the people who like sleeping in in the morning :). Nothing. A little lacking in character, but a very minor point. In April, after 9:30pm everything is closed and they turn off the internet as well when they leave and turn it back on in the morning. just as expected. Price. Parking was very limited. Parking was difficult to find and hard to maneuver. Staff was not friendly nor helpful. Had to drag luggage up 3 flights of stairs. The price is a little higher. No elevator and the staff was not always available. The only thing is that the we had our room was on the fourth floor with no elevator. Being booked into the fourth floor when I had bad knees!. Hotel is situated in the pedastrian zone. It's difficult to find the way to its parking. Awful smell of fuel in the bathroom, very concerning as smelt really bad. We did tell the hotel and hope they investigate this. TV on wall to the right of the bed so couldn't watch comfortably. Room was fairly tiny, staff seemed slightly disorganized (though very friendly). Our one large complaint was that they started tile work or some other construction around 7 a.m. the morning after we arrived. Also, they didn't really have a luggage storage area. No lift, hard to find it even with navigation. Parking area was very small and one was often parked in as a result. Stairs... It was a bit expensive conparing to other hotels. The room was so small. The two unfriendly female staff attendants. Not enough for breakfast, this hotel is close to two castle of which I feel a hearty breakfast is needed for a days sightseeing. This is my second visit to Fussen, last time my wife and I stayed in another hotel that was a lot better on service, breakfast etc. next time I would rather pay the extra. Staff don't speak any English and don't even try. The room was on the forth floor without lift so wasn't very handy with all the suitcases. room was a bit claustrophobic as we had to close the windows to prevent the rain water from coming into the room.average breakfast. No formal reception desk; We only found two wine glasses for drinking and brushing teeth! Better to provide two coffee mugs if the hotel only wants to provide two cups per room.
