My friend and I had a comfortable, roomy and clean triple room with private bathroom, quiet at the back of the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast with plenty of choice including fresh fruit and scrambled egg and French type bacon. The bedroom and bathroom were was lighter and brighter than shown in the photos with clean white towels each day in the bathroom. Only about a 10 minute walk to the station for the shuttle bus to Giverny for Monet's garden and a good bar for an evening.
all reviews » Vernon is very close to Giverny (4 kilometers) which is why we chose this hotel. It was quite reasonable for 2 nights at 176 Euro. Basic hotel rooms....no frills but fine and clean. Restaurant good and lounge for drinks for tea very comfortable with leather overstuffed chairs. Staff very helpful. Walking to the village, church, museum and restaurants within minutes. Sweet village. Stayed for 2 nights to visit Giverny on our way to Dordogne. Was going to stay north of Paris on return but we liked the Hotel Normandy and the town of Vernon enough to stay on the way home. Hotel food was good though menu not extensive. Most rooms overlook square or avenue. The town is pretty enough on the banks of the Seine and has a good choice of restaurants. Reasonably handy for the shuttle to Giverny ( about a 10 minute walk) which leaves from outside the station. The hotel is clean, the room was quite large and would make a suitable base for travel around the area. was only there one night so didn't manage to see much locally. Good fixed price dinner selection in the restaurant and comprehensive buffet breakfast. It was conveniently situated in the centre of Vernon with a good restaurant (the Cottage) and another good one opposite. It had a countrified feel to it. The ensuite bathroom was large and clean. The restaurant staff were friendly. The bread at breakfast was fresh and there was a good selection of yogurts. Good location to go to Giverny which is why we stayed there. Parking was very convenient under the hotel though very steep to leave! The lounge was nice to sit in but we were never asked if we wanted anything possibly because we arrived quite late in the day. Located in downtown Vernon is nice for walking to any of the local shops and most sites. Close to the river for feeding the ducks. Front desk staff are pleasant. Restaurant staff are arrogant. Free parking is usually available on the street. Helpful reception, clean room and bath, recently renovated, flat screen TV, proximity to Giverney, nice historical feel, centrally located, parking on site was good, although a little tight. The size of the room was good. very central. Location. hotel staff very helpful, good value for money. The lights were not strong enough for reading in bed. The toilet was in a true water closet near the entry door and the sink, tub and shower were opposite it....they shared a common wall but to access it we had to walk out of the toilet room and through the bedroom. First time for that arrangement...but it worked fine. The room we had on our second one night stay overlooked the rear narrow lane, but we did book quite late and did not request a room at the front. It does what it does efficiently and at a reasonable cost so there isn't really anything negative to say. The breakfast was a little limited but that is typical of France in general. There was some hot scrambled egg and some rather dried up hot ham. The fruit was partly fresh and partly tinned. The coffee was from a machine rather than freshly made filter. Compared to other hotels we stayed at it could use some interior updating & WiFi was problematic to use in our room so had to share computer in the public space. Also there were pigeons in the courtyard outside our window that were noisy in the morning. Bacon at breakfast was uncooked and raw. They refuse to reheat anything or crisp up the bacon. Breakfast selections are limited. No air conditioning, but most times in France its not necessary, but must deal with noise in the street at late hours and emergency traffic to nearby hospital. Nothing. A bit overpriced - but inside the patterns for the city. Come prepared for rainy weather.....but if they could, Hotel Normandy would make a plan for you with that too!. Nothing. No tea or coffee in the room. Breakfas okay but not value for money ar 10 euros. Local idiot who drove around all day and half the night in his sports car, continuously honking a very loud Alfa Romeo horn - no panzerfaust on site. Decor entrance area needs new lay out. Reataurant was a little overpriced and staff was overwhelmed by number of customers. curt staff. service in restaurant both dinner and breakfast on the slow side. Underground parking difficult better to park on street. Should it really take 48 hours to change a light bulb? Breakfast organization a shambles. Make sure you arrive before 7.30 for a complete choice of buffet and a clean table!!. Bath and loo could do with a good clean. No hotel parking. You have to park in parking lot of the cinema. Good luck on week-ends!. breakfast room badly organised. staff could not be bothered to refill juice dispenser. neutral. no way to control climate. Reception on arriving answered questions, but not welcoming. Extra charges for everything - Parkling - Breakfast (but it was a decent breakfast). The situation of the WC was odd in that it was located the other side of the bedroom to the bathroom. food was only average Price seemed high for standard of hotel. Location of toilet in room. Price increased from quote. No tea making facility in room. No fridge. No air conditioning. Breakfast horrible. Restaurant toilets disgusting, unusable. Definitely not 3 star grade. Never again! Taxi never came. Food and drink expensive. Bar & restaurant closed on Saturday night. Overall not good value for money. restaurant which is attached to the hotel was very poor, with bored staff and food 'off the menu'. didn't eat there in the end.
