We are in our early fifties (still 18 in mind) On paper/screen, this hotel ticked all of our boxes, situated a stones throw from the metro it combines the ease of access to the Parisian must sees but still seeing the real city in all its glory. The hotel and all staff were all A*. We are not hotel inspectors but could not fault a thing. We, like most, look up the hotel/area etc on trip advisor prior to booking, but always with a very open mind. Like films, all very personal and others opinions .
all reviews » The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We had accidentally booked our bus ticket for the wrong day and didn't find out until the day of and the friendly Receptionist helped us contact the agency to rectify the issue. Thank goodness! The location was close to Gare du Nord and easy to find. The metro is a block away and very convenient (just be mindful of pickpockets when you are entering the metro, anywhere in Paris, as a matter of fact). This Best Western is also located 10 minutes away . A cosy, clean room, very close to good nightlife, and good restaurants, a few minutes walk to the trendy montmartre district. Our room was very quite as it was facing the back. The metro station is a couple of minutes walking distance, which is excellent. Its just a few stops to all the sights of Paris. The Hotel was very comfortable and in a great location. Easy to get to from main Train stations. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would stay at this Hotel again. Free internet was a nice touch and the Breakfast was delicious. The location is very easy to get to by the metro, the area we was told was the 'rough' area, not at all, it's got abit more rubbish but I walked home with my 60 yr old mum at half 11 in the dark without even a bit of mither. The hotel was in a good location for eating out,the breakfasts were ideal. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again if i was in the area. Very courteous reception. The location is a little questionable and I would not recommend for families with young children. The big issue was there was no parking facilities for a four star hotel. Just be mindful of your surroundings. They have issues with the elevators so be ready to walk up 5 flights with luggage if the elevator happens to fail. The lift wasn't working throughout our stay of 3 days, which meant walking to the 4th floor, also with suitcases. The guy on the front desk wasn't the happiest of soles, although he did crack a smile when we seen him out of work, that really was the worst part and that's just being picky. The surrounding area was somewhat like a souk. I would feel a little uncomfortable as a woman, alone at night!. the tea bags. If I was to be picky it would only be there was not enough light above the mirror in the bathroom. The location was a bit dangers we have to take our precautions in regards of our safety. No complaints. would have liked a small fridge.... location. The location is not in a very safe area. The bathroom door was warped and wouldn't shut. I was uncomfortable with the neighborhood. Room too small. The lift wasn't working so we had to walk up 6 flights of stairs to get to our room which was absolutely exhausting with luggage. From a 4* hotel you would like to think they would have an operating lift. The heating in the room didn't work so we were forced to leave the shower running in order to heat up the room. All in all a good hotel but it doesn't deserve it's 4 stars. Staff were a little curt, not that welcoming, 'housekeeping' is a loose term -- bed made, change in towels but no trash removed. Lift not working and no offer to assist helping me with my baggage to climb to the 2nd floor up a winding staircase. I have a back problem which was not helped by this.I had the impression the lift had not been working for some time. Although the hotel was only a 10 mins from Montmartre the area itself was VERY DODGY with prostitutes touting for business almost outside the hotel. Did not like the location - not a good area. Breakfast was very basic. The room has no fridge or minibar, zone of hotel amplasament. - staff not very welcoming - wouldn't like to walk alone in the area at night - clean room, comfortable bed, but very basic facilities for a 4 star. The elevator was out of order during our entire stay ( 4 days) and we were on the 5th floor. We missed a minibar/fridge. A bit noisy (street). The lights didn't work in the first room, the wi-fi works only in the lobby. Breakfast same every day. - The location was horrible - (part of) the staff was unfriendly - the lock-box was not working, and there was not technician present to fix it. located in a poor district with street market near by. The street of the hotek is a bit dangerous. The lift/ elevator is not working so I have to climb 4 floors to reach my room. Hard to see how the hotel qualifies for 4 stars: no amenities (other than flat screen tv & kettle!). No iron available in reception, one member of staff very friendly (as were cleaning staff), but the rest were disinterested at best. Wifi wasn't strong in the rooms; my business partner couldn't receive a signal in the lounge. The area. Double bed=two single beds put together. Nice beds though. it was too small. The staff at night was rude and unprofessional. The water kettle in our room was old and had so much wear and tear we did not want to use it for hot beverages. Everything else was fine but the nightly staff was so impolite, it left a bad impression on the whole stay there. Boulevard Barbes; inability to provide working kettle. first night was double booked, I was moved to another hotel, cheap 2 stars I was waiting for check-in two hours I did not recive any compensations Location is not good, area with plenty of black people selling drugs, prostitutes. everithing is bad/ location, expensive, poore breakfast, maximum 3 stars, no umbrella's, no water, so very bad.
