The silence and the lack of fuss.The quality of the hotel. My room was number 15 which looked onto a small courtyard.I would recommend this room for a single traveler. The hotel is close to the Metro and many restaurants and cafes. On my next visit to Paris I will return to the Hotel Bastille De Launay. The Staff were amazing!! Very polite and friendly... I went out and cameback very late but they were always at the door and very helpful.

But otherwise, parking would have been a problem.It needs a little updating. The linens looked old and worn. A little sprucing up can make a world of difference. There was quite a discrepancy from the picture of the 'Superior Twin Room' on the website from the actual room. It was way smaller than I thought it would be. Fairly noisy, you can here people in the adjacent rooms.I did not like that yhere was no coffie machine or hot water for nescafé. The room was extremely small for such a high price -- but maybe that's just the price of being in Paris.very small and dingy room, poor lighting. Uncomfortable bed.One male member of reception staff was very rude because I could notspeak french .I am going back to paris this week-end but wont stay atthis hotel. Rather poor buffet breakfast for the price - we ate elsewhere. Smallish room stinking of cigarette smoke. Bed was very hard.small bedroom. Room had ciggarate odour and there were bed bugs problem. Initially offered room was non habitable. Second room was poorlydecorated with water damage on walls; carpet with a life of its own.Unable at short notice to find altrnative hotel in the area which hadvacancy for four days. Them trying to charge us 90 Euros for a half bottle of champagne. The smell in the room was also bad. The size of the room was amazingly small. The room was not clean (even a spider had her house in one of the corners of the room). The bed was quite small. A lot of noise coming from the other rooms. The quality of breakfast was poor for 11 euros eventhough we did not try it. The staff (not all people but most of them) they were not helpfull. yes, looks like a lodge, no maintenence since ages. too small, no kettle unfriendly staff overpriced.
