I left a shirt in the hotel when leaving. It's not an expensive but very meaningful stuff to me. I mailed the hotel that I will be in Paris several days after and it will be very appreciated if they can send it to me. I wasn't expected that the shirt will come back to me in the following trip again. However, when I finally arrived another hotel in Paris, the reception showed me the package he received. all reviews » Very personal styled hotel with a romantic touch in the pedestrian zone only 50 mrs away from Place Massena. Walking distance to the old city and to the Promenade des Anglais (5 minutes). The hotel is on the second floor of the backyard building so there is no noise at all from the city. Good value for expensive Nice. Nice for younger people. Don't park your car in the expensive public garage of Place Massena, you can find a spot at the street with a meter which is free at night. The Hotel Rex was a budget friendly hotel, which doesn't really describe the comfortable and peaceful respite from the busy streets of Nice. It is close to the beach, the tram, the sights, yet there is no car traffic on the street the hotel is located on. The staff/owner of the hotel was very gracious and helpful. We would re-book with Hotel Rex the next time we travel to Nice. The perfect French shabby-chic hotel! Don't be put off by Hotel Rex's 1-star rating. The attention put into the decor and cleanliness is impressive. Great location, too, right in the heart of old Nice. Stairs from street to hotel check in area are steep and narrow. Hotel on a street that is closed to traffic. Parking in nearby parkade. Small bed. No lift that u have to carry all luggages up stairs by yourself. Very small and tiny room, but clean enough. Very small room and bathroom, cracked shower tray, creaky floorboards, dodgy lock to the room (struggled to get in at 3am in the morning), was expensive and the price advertised in the rooms was less than we paid through letsbookhotel.com, when we queried it they said it was because they had to pay the commission... Overall we felt it was more shabby than chic!.
