The location of Aux Armes de Champagne was perfect for a stop-over on our drive back from Provence to the Channel tunnel. It is situated next to a beautiful Cathedral which dominates this little village. The food was excellent but the restaurant gets very booked up at the weekend and we were lucky to get a cancellation. Do reserve a table in advance as there is nowhere else to eat in l'Epine.

There is a mini/crazy golf to the rear although we sadly didn't have time to whizz round it. Room was very nice. Clean and well cared for. Staff helpful. Most spoke English. Dinner was the star. Meals excellent and presented well. Breakfast could be had either full or continental. Location was good. Not too far from the auto route, but in the country. Easy access from the motorway. Beautiful Basilica in the middle of this little town or big village. Ample parking with shady areas (vines) if needed. Welcoming and professional staff. The Gourmet restaurant is worth the visit. Easy to find from the motorway, friendly staff beautiful gardens and setting. Comfortable 'French style' room. Excellent breakfast and the evening dinner was one of the best we have ever eaten in France. convenient location; excellent food; 15C cathedral town; relaxed atmosphere; secure parking; nice grounds; clean comfortable rooms and plumbing. Very pretty location and gardens. Nothing to dislike as the hotel is charming. Nothing really, although some may find the church bells a little intrusive (Sun 7am..). The shower could have been a little warmer. We had booked a room with a large double bed. It was actually a standard double, not big enough to be comfortable. The booking on the website led us to believe that the breakfast was not included. We found out too late that it was. Traffic noise all night as the wine harvest was on and lorries were taking grapes to the producers and back in convoys. Rather tired pink bathroom suite with chipped tiles. nothing really - quite expensive, but worth it. Overnight the window had shutters on, ours were fine but one along the corridoor must have not been closed correctly as it did blow and make a noise during the night causing some disturbance. In the bathroom of our room (room 3) the tiles had been fitted on top of existing tiles. As a result, the tap fixture on the bath would not open properly which meant that the water flow was a mere trickle which, in turn meant that neither the shower or the bath were functional. There are two, attractive bars but these are staffed intermittently and, after a long drive, I had to wait quite a while for a drink. Our room and bed were very small. We stayed on our way back from a trip to the south lasting four weeks. When we arrived we were told that there was no room in the restaurant and that they had e-mailed our UK home the week before warinng us. As we were away we did not receive the e-mail and this was embarrssing. We were rescued by another English couple who invited us to share their table which was acheived after some discussion. Not enough off street parking. Evening meal was good quality but not 'gourmet' as advertised and over-priced. Rooms are small and becoming dated. Bathroom was so small it was difficult to use it. Breakfast was very poor value for money. It was expensive to start with and then extra if you wanted eggs - unacceptable. Bathroom was in need of a makeover!. Very small bedroom. Hotel not suited to someone with limited mobility. Had to walk around the building to get to the dining room. Steps up to the accommodation building. Not suitable for partially disabled. No walk-in shower - only a bath. Not suitable for the partially disabled.
