Recently refurbished, this is a very comfortably hotel in a superb location. Just 60 seconds walk from the old port where you can see the three towers for which La Rochelle is aptly famous and just around the corner from the Rue Saint Jean du Perot where you can find a range of excellent restaurants. The bathroom was small but beautifully fitted out. Bed very comfortable and room plenty big enough and complete with free wi-fi.
all reviews » What a gem!!!!!! Lovely friendly welcome. Beautiful, sparkling clean hotel. Very centrally located.Our bedroom overlooked a small private garden,with chairs and tables. Just so sweet! A real treat!!!!!! All members of staff were friendly and went out of their way to help and answer all our questions. Would highly recommend. A+++. Thank you all so much. The location in La Rochelle was great. Walking distance to everything. The hotel is newly renovated and everything is spit spot and new. The owner was very nice and helpful. They saved some cool architectural details of the old building when they did the renovation, and the effect of the modern and the old was striking. Nice breakfast. I found the staff and facilities to be excellent on arrival - having just driven from Toulouse. Parking is a bit of an issue at mid-afternoon in August but be patient and you can get free over night parking nearby! Overall this hotel really made the trip through France memorable. Lovely hotel, perfectly positioned for exploring LaRochelle, seconds walk to all sights and restaurants although just off main thouroughfare so not noisy. I would stay there again I highly recommend it. The hotel is an old historic building in the old part of La Rochelle. Well run by lovely people 300 yr old panelling in the breakfast room made the 9euro even better value. Third time staying in La Rochelle, although first at this hotel which is in a good location, and whilst a very old building, extremely clean. Spent seven nights here which for some would seem unusual. Staff friendly and helpful once engaged in conversation. Excellent location, in a quite street, close to many good restaurants & bars. Only disadvantage is that there is no air conditioning and leaving the window open is not possible due to the amount people on the streets in the early hours of the morning. We were a family of 4 staying in one room and it was not exactly spacious. The bathroom was also quite small. If it's a choice between being a little cramped and having to get two rooms, I'll take the cramped, but it wasn't entirely ideal. Nothing although there is no lift if you are on the third floor. The staff will help you with your luggage and they are hoping to fit a lift at some stage. A bit pricey, but not markedly so for La Rochelle. The room was fairly small but it is to be expected in a centuries-old building. no coffee or tea facilities in the room. Water pressure in shower was a bit low but acceptable. Bathroom was a little on the small side; not a problem for us but some might find it so. lack of air condition. Noise from building renovation across the road, but we were moved to a much quieter room. Very noisy from street below. Had to park a long way from hotel. Third floor with no lift. Our room was smaller than I would like, with little room for two people to pass at bottom of bed. Also if window left ajar on warm night, noise from nightclub in close proximity could become annoying. Hotel St Jean de Arc would be preferred option. Disappointing size of the room; too small and cramped. An overpriced hotel. No air conditioning On arrival told breakfast not included on price ( so ate elsewhere) BUT on leaving told that it had been included in price but our fault/ error. SO noisy at night due to location - you either could not sleep due to noise or could not sleep due to lack of air and heat Room was very small and cramped ( sold as a comfort double).
