The Chateau: We appreciated the graciousness of the staff, the food was delicious, the decor lovely (especially the table settings with authentic silverware) - the curtains and bedspreads are partly French-country style with an older elegant note of old French style furniture. Two bathrooms (one with shower/one with a tub - very convenient). The shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water. The property grounds are gorgeous - wonderful landscape. Free parking. The Wi-Fi was spotty at best.
all reviews » Our grandchildren were delighted to be staying in a real castle, but it was not overpoweringly smart or grand. They upgraded our room at no extra cost and provided a package including evening meal and breakfast. Brilliant bath and excellent evening meal. The hotel is an old castle that was renovated into a hotel. It is a very magnificent and impressive structure worth visiting. The restaurant offers elegant meals in a large room that looks like a Holiwood setting for a royal feast. A must see!. the staff were very friendly, upgraded us to a larger room, and was really helpfull. The pool is great, clean and in a great setting. The kids could stroll around the compound heppily, with lots to see and a small castle building to play in. Charming castle in beautiful surroundings. Friendly personnel who spoke English well. A great place to spend two nights before setting of for the second part of our journey to the South of France. Fabulous location and very romantic - you literally live in the castle! The hotel is really nice outside, with a beautiful and romantic view and surroundings. There is a big pool also. We were three persons in a room - the third person had to sleep on a thin mattress from the pullout sofa - not the most comfortable. But the rest of the experience made up for it. Nothing!. The guest rooms are very plain and devoid of any decoration. nothing really. The pool wasn't heated and the prices in the restaurant were quite steep (but the food was wonderful!). It's far from anything else so you have to drive if you want to get out into any other place. We were on Bicycles so it was far for us to any town. Chagny is not a particular nice town. Not great for young children but this is not a problem to do with the hotel. I would definitely return just as a couple or with older children. The room wasn't supplied. No tissues. Inadequate towels. on the outskirts. nothing. Smell of food odour from kitchen permeated the stairway and first floor. Menu pricing for evening meal - expensive!. Room basic and small even allowiing for smart deal price paid. Gravel drive for pulling suit cases over. We did not like the welcome-not warm. The breakfast was good, but the dinner was poor. I had duck and it was dry and overcooked. The room was a little disapointing, a quite old and bad smelling. The shower was bad also.
