Wow!! The property is next to the river Loire and easy to find. On arrival we were met by the lovely friendly couple who own the Chambres dHotes working on their part of the caves. The place is stunning. Our room was at the back of the caves with a 4 poster bed and spa shower. When we turned the lights off to go to sleep it was black and silent. The bed was very comfortable and we had the best nights sleep ever!! The breakfast was good and when the owners came back from an evening out they gave.
all reviews » Spending the night in a cave that feel modern and has a swimming pool is great! The owner is very welcoming. You feel like you are staying at a friend's home. The yard is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine. You can bring a picnic with you. We were able to use the refrigerator. There is a large TV and leather sofa in the common area. The rooms are cozy and well decorated. The shower is nice also. The breakfast was good. Convienient location for seeing Amboise and nearby chateaux. The guest house is well located just by the river near to the town historical center and the chateau. It was a fun experience to sleep one night in the rooms that were carved in the stone. We used the pool that was nicely arranged in one of the caverns. The host were very friendly and received us very well. Breakfast was excellent with delicious hot croissants, bread, jam, fruits, etc. Everything you can wish for served on a beautiful table with candlelights. A unique hotel in a series of caves. Our room was at the front so had a patio door with access to a private area of the garden. It was well furnished and decorated, and had a jacuzzi bath. In a cabe at the back of the hotel there is a swimming pool, a novel experience! There is plenty of roadside parking opposite the hotel. We were met by the friendly host and presented with a glass of sparkling wine after a late swim in their pool. As it was in a cave it was a great experience. Excellent for a one night stay, I would not stay longer though because the rooms have no windows and you can really fell the dampness. Lovely for some freshness in a hot summer. On the outskirts of the town, but it's about a 10 min walk away. There is a slight damp smell but this should be expected for a cave system and it is not strong enough to be unpleasant. Hotel could easily arrange secure parking inside the grounds rather than on the road outside. The room was a bit small but nice and clean. We couldn't check in until 5.00, so had to hang around. The bed was too soft for me. The lack of natural light. The breakfast was just ok, nothing fancy. If somebody have claustrophobia this hotel is not a good idea. Too dark rooms. Since you were in a cave it did have a musty smell. Poor design on the shower/bath. The shower and toilet were in the actual bedroom, no privacy. The breakfast was very basic. The fruit on the breakfast table wasn't fresh on day one, by day four it was still the same fruit. The water for tea was just hot and not put again to boil and the coffee was over brewed. In comparison to everywhere we have stayed this was not value for money.
