After a weekend of alcoholic debauchery in Brno, my girlfriend and me had a last stop at Prague before leaving home. And really, this was such a difference compared to what we've experienced in Brno. The stop was the Golden Star hotel, a home from home with friendly personnel who helped us immediately. Not unlike what we experienced in Brno. Since we booked a deluxe suite (room 33), we had the comfort and luxury of a real appartment just next to the main tourist attractions. Sure, the climb up .
all reviews » We liked the location of the hotel - just below the Castle. It looks like an old building but nicely renovated. Cosy and romantic, with a lot of wooden and "golden" details. The breakfast room has a beautiful view to the Old town. The reception staff was friendly and helpful. Comfortable bed, kettle and tea/coffee in the room...We would be happy to stay at Golden Star again. We loved the view, however this would only be available if you asked for a front facing room. The large bath we had was great after a long day of walking, and the bed was truly warm and comfy. Staff were very polite and helpful and all spoke excellent english. We stayed 2 nights and were placed at the Red Lion Hotel (2 doors down the street). We had a room on the top floor which was massive and very quite. Room was very clean and tidy with all facilities needed. The staff at the Golden Star were very helpful. This has been my second stay in Golden Star and again very pleased. The room we had was absolutely huge with lovely bath and breathtaking views. Staff friendly and helpful, good choice of food for breakfast. Definitely worth the money!!. The great location - next to Prazsky Hrad, and only 5 minutes walking to Karlův Most. Staff was very nice, the room was clean and beautiful. The breakfast was just right for long walking day :). Very good staff and excellent view of Prague from the room, however every time on our way back to the hotel we need to walk up the hill to get there ( tiring ) but still excellent. short stay - didnt speand much tine in hotel -but it was very nice - no issues. Had breakfast 1 mornign only - eggs, breads, cerealm friuit - all good. We liked the location, price and staff. This is very very nice 3 star hotel (not 4 star for sure). Close to the Castle, clean and have a good view to the city. The room temperature was set up around 25 degrees Celcius when we arrived. Even though it became a bit chilly around the time we were in Prague, I felt this was a bit too high, almost sauna-like. Luckily the temperature could be set lower and after having the windows open for a few minutes, it was better. A loose tile on the bathroom floor was a bit shabby and dangerous, though I did alert them to this and I guess their attention to detail will mean this will be fixed - almost certainly. That we had to leave.... Breakfast was poor. There were problems in the bathroom with the water sink. Misleading pricing - was charged in an unfavorable exchange rate of kronas (price was quoted in euros then payment was based upon an inflated exchange rate). Taking tables from attic at 8 am... Far from the metro station and there is a long sloping road.

Hotel information details

The first written notes of the house date back to 1372, when it was owned by the Mayor of Hradčany. During the following century, the house changed its owners several times. Among them we can find servants of the Czech kings, members of different religious orders and many important Prague burghers. In 1723-1732, the house underwent a thorough and costly reconstruction that shaped its present aspect.
