Martina, the proprietor was incredibly helpful. Her family has lived in the immediate area for generations so she is very knowledgeable...hiking times, groceries, etc. The location can't be beat right on the beach and near the national park. We also thought the food was a highlight. We've been in the region for 4 weeks so we know Dalmation food. We loved Kiko's dinners so much we ate there every night. Try the seafood platter for 2. Delicious ("oo koo snow" in Croatian.).
all reviews » Great location to access Paklenica National Park. Modern, clean, tidy, stylish family run hotel. Lovely relaxing atmostphere, romantic outook from our balcony room. Option to swim right in front of the hotel. Fabulous food including fresh fish cooked outside on a purpose built brick oven with hotplate. Hotel owner went out of her way to accommodate our needs. The best hotel we stayed in in the entire two week touring trip of Croatia. We had a lovely, relaxing one night stay in the small 1 bedroom apartment with a spacious seaside balcony. The breakfast was delicious with eggs cooked to order. The very reasonably priced dinner fish plater was outstanding! We ate on tables in a pleasant garden setting facing the water.. We enjoyed the amazing staff, access to many local attractions in Croatia, and an overall relaxing atmosphere. Our son had a wonderful time playing with neighborhood children, and the weather was great at the time of our visit, allowing for a few playing out in the sun moments. Staff was very friendly. They put us in a sea-facing full apt next door to pension for same price. The sea view was wonderful. The proximity to Paklenica Park was great (we had a car) and was a little away from the busier center (which we prefer). Excellent location with own beach and restaurant. Nice and quiet room with sea view and huge balcony. Good breakfast on a beautiful terrace with flowers. Enough parking places. We were on honeymoon, and they greeted us with a bottle of champaign. I really liked the feel of the place! This is a family owned establishment that allows you feel part of the hotel a "real" guest. They are there take care of all of your needs. The place is clean with pride. Upgrade to sea facing apartment well worth it - fabulous balcony & view; Martina & staff superb; great restaurant. A "10" doesn't do this place justice!!!!!. Park. very helpful staff. The temperature of our shower on the 3rd floor was weak and the water pressure at the hottest temps was low. But there was warm water. Nothing. All excellent. We kept running into the sharp corners of the bed frame in the small bedroom. Had a bit of trouble finding Pansion Kiko in the dark due to GPS issues, which told us the street was 4k from it's actual location. The shower wasn't working properly. Nothing. Lots of stairs to carry a suitcase up.

Travelling information

Starigrad-Paklenica is situated almost in the centre of Dalmatia at the crossing of most traffic routes. You can get to Starigrad-Paklenica by: • Air – Zadar Airport Zemunik (ZAD) is well-connected with all larger cities in Croatia and Europe, and is only about a 30-minute drive from Starigrad-Paklenica. • Car – You can get to Starigrad-Paklenica from several directions, but the Zagreb – Split A1 state motorway highway is the quickest and best way to get here. - It is best to exit from the motorway at the Maslenica or Posedarje interchanges, and continue to the main road towards Rijeka. - If you are coming from the direction of Rijeka, use the Adriatic main road – State Road D-8. • Ferry – Ancona to Zadar – If you are coming from the direction of Italy, the shortest possible route is via Ancona by ferry to Zadar. - The journey lasts 8 hours (departure is usually at 22:00 and arrival at 06:00). When you sail into Zadar, you are only an hour's drive from Starigrad-Paklenica.
