We picked the Villa Jerkan for a little bit of rest and relaxation at the begining of our trip. It was quiet and very beautiful just on the beach. For more life, Split is about a 30 minute bus ride away. Jerko and his son Marco could not do enough to help their guests by booking the best tables at the local restaurants for us, to sourcing fresh fish for other guests to cook on the communual beach bbq.
all reviews » Friendly, family oriented staff. Location- near to Split but away from congestion of the city and on the beach. Room was within easy walking distance of a number of great restaurants. Neighbors were also friendly. The family were awesome....we came early because it was raining and we had nowhere else to go. A neighbor called the family for us and they drove over to the property and let us in way before check-in time. The room was nice and very clean. Sea is just in front of the apartments. The host was very friendly. Very quite place. Just on the beach. Staff very friendly. Excellent location, friendly staff. We really enjoyed. Beautiful View. The location right on the beach with free sun beds is very nice. The owners are very helpful, and Mr Boss himself is quite a character. He and his family are truly dedicated in making the stay to the best experience. They are almost working around the clock to make his guests happy. Marko (son) was always alert and helped out in any matter. He can also offer to drive to&from airport if needed. They keep the apartments and the beach very nice and tidy. Kids loved the free wifi, which you . Position right on the beach, great views, very clean (housekeeping staff sweeping dozens of times everyday on stairs and terrace). It would be nice to have the choice of a few more places to eat a little bit closer to the villa. Weather- uncontrollable but was cold and rainy the entire time. We wish we could have been there when the weather was nice!!. You need to make your own breakfast in the mini kitchen. No other option near. Nearest restaurant was 1000 meters away. Good restaurant though. There was some kind of beach bar about 200 m away, but they just sold ice cream and drinks. I really missed a place serving pizza or salads for lunch near the apartment. 2 supermarkets in the area, but no other shops near. No sportsactivity, watersport etc. in walking distance. Having your own car might make things easier though. First time in my life an owner asked me for tips! Also strange behaviour of owners: I've asked 5 months before if I can pay with PayPal; they answered "yes". When I wanted to make the payment at departure, they started to yell and to swear (literally!) and asked for cash or a 50% (!) fee for paypal payement. Obviously they dropped this, but the attitude was miserable. They really know how to ruin a holiday. Overpriced hotel for conditions. no lift no fire escape noisy neighbours dragging furniture across floor at unsocable hours. Location - although had bus links were only twice an hour and restricted if our for the night so as not to miss the last bus. The hotel was comfortable but basic - which I was happy with but a bit of a bare place in the whole as we were stuck there during a thunder storm - no food or restaurant near by (the hotel didn't serve food and only had beer). Unwelcoming owner.

Information about the area

Podstrana is situated on a picturesque ecologically preserved eastern part of Splitsko-Dalmatinska County, just 10 km away from Split. Olive trees and peach orchards grow in this area, which is an exquisite tourist destination.

You can spend a wonderful active holiday in Podstrana: walking paths, hiking and cycling trails or sightseeing of cultural and historical localities are offered. Sports on the beach include windsurfing, sailing, sports catamarans, water skiing and water skating. For all these sports there are courses organised in 6 languages: Croatian, English, German, French, Italian and Flemish.

Tourists can also take part in an excursion arranged by a domestic tourist agency or they can individually arrange to go rafting on the river Cetina, which is 15 km away.

Travelling information

Due to the vicinity of Split, all traffic communications are near: the airport (30 km), sea port (8 km), bus station for international traffic (8 km), railway station (8 km) and the motorway (18 km).
