I loved Apartments Familia for many reasons. The #1 reason were the owners Ankica and her husband. They picked us up at the bus station and helped us with our large suitcases - very hospitable and fun! Ankica was a great help to us by getting all the information on the ferries to the islands...greatly appreciated! The apartment was spacious, in a fantastic location and I loved the décor. I would definitely stay at Apartments Familia again and would strongly recommend it to any travelling t.
all reviews » Ankica was so welcoming, she answered all my correspondence, had her lovely husband collect us from the bus, gave us a bottle of her home made cherry brandy that was magnificent, and was available for any queries that we had. I have never been given such a welcoming anywhere else, she is a lovely lady and I would never hesitate in totally recommending Apartment Familia to any other travellers. Minutes to restaurants and a very short stroll to the beach and markets. The studio flat was cosy with nice pictures on the walls and clean throughout, plenty of storage space for two people, little kitchen area had everything you would need for simple cooking/eating, air-conditioning was working perfectly, windows sealed the street noise extremely well, staff was very helpful, friendly and easy to reach for questions or advice, beach and city center is only a couple of minutes walk away. Very good location in the heart of Makarska, everything is close: city centre, beach, marina etc. A bit difficult to find with GPS. The staff, Zeljko and his wife, are super nice and friedly, and everything is easy going with them! The apartment is a budget apartment, which means it's not that big, renovated and stuff, but it's worth the money spent. Being collected and dropped off at the coach station. Finding the studio modern and spotless with all requirements and basic supplies. Being five minutes from the harbour, town square, markets, and the most beautiful beaches outside the West Indies. Hard to fault. Thankyou Annika and family for welcoming our family. The owner was very nice and helpful upon our arrival. The air conditioning worked wonderfully and allowed us to keep the room really cool during the hot month of August. Central location right off of the main street by the harbor. Very friendly, great location. Asked to stay a second night add the location was so good there wasn't a problem we just had 2 swap rooms we had a balcony, washing machine, microwave etc. Right in the heart of the old city. Owner works very close to the apartment so was able to help with any requests we had (eg. where to have dinner). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location was fantastic in the heart of Makarska's restaurants and cafe's. Ankica was very pleasant, helpful and couldn't do enough for us. We had a tremendous holiday there. The negative points are really negligible and did NOT spoil our overall experience: Wi-Fi was not working initially (after we asked it was fixed immediately) and the street outside gets pretty noisy in the evenings (windows seal the noise very well but you are forced to sleep in the heat or with air-conditioning on). We should not have liked two floors of stairs, the apartment being in a back street centuries old building and the background noise of music and singing late into the night. Wonderful. As they say in Croatia...You do not stop playing because you grow old.... you grow old because you stop playing. Nothing all was perfect. Nothing, it was great!. The apartment we stayed at was a little bit dark, looking to nowhere, but very clean indeed. It was functional rather than homely but great for the price. Noise at night the biggest problem here. If we were wanting to socialize with the locals at the nearby bar this would have worked out fine. Pack your earplugs. Everething was perfect!!!!. Street outside was very noisy every night, so we had to keep windows closed during the night. Noise from streets in late evening. unnecessary second bed instead of sofa, so little sitting space. Everything was great. The room that we received looked quite different from the uploaded pictures and the bathroom was very small. Small bathroom, old furniture, place not so clean.
