The better half and I had a great holiday in Cavtat. We usually stay in hotel accommodation so this was something a bit different. The room was basic but very comfortable and clean ( Maid service,clean towels, etc every day) All cooking facilities and fridge are located in the shared kitchen in the lower floor. The balcony is absolutely incredible and would put some 5 star hotels to shame. 2 sunbeds, table , 2 chairs and amazing views with space for a game of 5 a side football .( Was trying to.
all reviews » We loved this place. It was really good value for money, the room (room 3) was adequately spacious. The main selling point however, was the outstanding balcony and view it provided. We spent many a night out there with a glass of wine and some delicious food from Logos restaurant which is just a two minute walk up the hill. Would highly recommend. Location very central, very near the bus stop which had buses hourly to Dubrovnik. 5 mins walk to a gorgeous beach and night life. Really nice restaurants and bars on the harbour. Staff very friendly and helpful - full kitchen with oven etc available to tenants and air conditioning in all rooms. Beautiful view from the big balcony - port and Dubrovnik. Access to kitchen on ground floor, gave us possibility for long breakfast on the balcony. But the bedroom didn't have a door, and the sofa bed was really basic, next to the bathroom so we had to walk through where our friend was sleeping to get to the bathroom. The room is very small. It's a slightly inconvenient walk down to the beaches/restaurants/nightlife in Cavtat (on a road with no sidewalks), but renting a scooter made the location much better. Difficult to find this place and dangerous to walk back to at night as up main road out if town and poorly lit. Sadly some. Bloody minded rich guy bought a block of apartments as let's and has stopped people walk in down what used to be the footpath. little bit of a trek uphill from the resort. This is a room only. Villa has no other facilities. Not a dislike as such but the steep hills and steps could be a problem for some. We only discovered the kitchen on our last afternoon. A little more information in the room about the facilities available would have been good. We took a travel kettle and were having tea out of our bathroom glasses when there were loads of mugs, a fridge and tea making facilities in the kitchen if only we'd known!. slightly inconvenient walk down to the beaches/apartments. Airport flightpath, No hot water supply to the kitchen sink. Shower was too cramped and the mixer tap was leaking. A very steep walk to the location. Poor WiFi signal. Very steep hill to climb coming up from beach. Very steep walk up and downmany many steps and along road with little shoulder to get to and from town/ beach. Very steep stairs from the car park. No staff on hand, no obvious reception area. Payment required in Euros meaning changing Sterling to Kuna to Euro as bank didn't do Sterling to Euro. The only real complaint I would have is that the air conditioner in the room did not work for heating and we had to use a space heater. Our mistake for going out of season but it was unpredictably cold, and the space heater just did not heat the room properly. Usual property facilities (such as a common kitchen for coffee etc.) were not working or under renovation for the coming season, so we had only the bare frills of an already bare-frills room. staff.

Cavtat is a peaceful small town with a beautiful promenade, where more than 20 restaurants and numerous coffee bars can be found. There are some grocery stores in the area, and 2 km from the town centre there is a bigger supermarket. The place also has a small market place with home-made products, and a fishmonger with fresh seafood. Both of those are only open early in the morning, from 07:00.

Information about the area

Cavtat, surrounded by hills, blue sea, rocky and pebble beaches and green woods is offering a lot to its visitors. It is a small medieval town situated on the southern edge of Croatia's coast and is located in a picturesque bay enclosed by 2 peninsulas. Cavtat is the main town of the Konavle region, an area known for its particular natural beauty.

The main advantage of this town is its proximity to Dubrovnik, "the Pearl of the Adriatic" (16 km), as well as to Cilipi Airport (5 km), the Bosnia and Herzegovina border (20 km), and the Montenegro border (30 km). There are transportation connections with Dubrovnik city, the most interesting one being the boat service which operates hourly to Dubrovnik from Cavtat old town from April to October. The boat arrives directly in Dubrovnik old town and the journey time is approx. 30-40 minutes. The other way of transportation is a bus, which operates every half an hour from both directions. Other attractions include excursions to offshore islands such as Mljet and the Elaphite Islands, as well as day trips to Montenegro and Mostar, to name a few.
