This is basically a backpackers hostel, and although I wouldn't consider myself to be in this particular demographic, it seemd to tick all the right boxes. The location was fine, with good access to restaurants, tours etc. Facilities were generally clean and tidy, wifi ok, plus pretty good spoken English by the front office staff.
On day 1, we had a late-arriving flight into Guilin, but our group of 5 were picked up on time by the hotel driver and delivered in no time at all at a cost of about . all reviews »
We were so surprised when we arrived in the Riverside. It was very cheap so we weren't expecting too much. However, we had a lovely spacious room with a river view. The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. The food was delicious. We couldnt have asked for more. We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it. It was very close to the night market and the bus station.
We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights in a bright, spacious, and very clean room. The staff was friendly and spoke good english, which was very helpful. The location of the hotel is excellent, it's very central walking distance to all the major sites, train station, and restaurants. Overall the hotel was excellent, if we're back to Guilin we'll definitely stay there again.
Fantastic little hostel. Actually it felt like a hotel. Staff were terrific, friendly, spoke good English and assisted us efficiently with all our arrangements. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the location was perfect. It's the perfect place to base yourself at when exploring around Guilin and the nearby sights. It was great value for money. Highly recommended.
The location directly at the river was fantastic. Nice view from the restaurant terrace. Nice wooden interior. Very service minded and kind staff. Airport pick-up. Arranged bus tour to Longji Rice terraces of excellent value. Arranged also Li river Cruise, one way as we left the tour in Yangshuo. Western breakfast ok. The room with en suite bathroom was quite large.
The Staffs were super nice and helpful! Most of them speak English. This was very helpful to us since we didn't speak Chinese. The hostel is always kept clean. The hostel's location is close to stores, restaurants, banks, and night activities/attractions. I would definitely stay here again if I can a come back to China.
Nice clean hotel, ideal location in Guilin 15 min walk from Guilin main (south?) station, and easy walking along the river to main sights in Guilin. Lovely terrace overlooking the Peach Blossom River, breakfasts and drinks available and reasonable, English speaking staff able to organise tours into the surrounding area.
Staff was very helpfull! Peggy was very friendly as well and gave us a
lot of good tips. Good value for money. Hotel was very clean.
Heating/airco worked well. When we left for Yangshuo, they even gave
us there big umbrella to use for that day (gave it back through the
guide/busdriver). We should stay there again!.

The hostel is in a good location next to the river and has a terrace on the roof which looks over the river. Very good value for the money. I will go there again when i come back to Guilin to visit.
Very nice and English speaking staff. We booked two day tours-Li river cruise and rice fields tour, both were good (note for the rice fields that visibility depends on weather- we came and it was totally foggy, however, we were lucky to see some of the fields after waiting for some time).
Good location, near to railway station and bus station as well as other attraction point. Wifi available in rooms, rooms facilities are complete, with hair dyer, multipurpose socket (no need adaptor)available. Value for money, will recommend to friends.
I loved everything in that hotel I can recommend to everyone! Really people speaks English are very friendly and propose a lots of activities around guilin which is very appreciable and the rooms are big and clean. I really did enjoy my time there.
the fabulous staff, Peggy, Yoyo, Tina and Lulu who always welcomed us with a smile and went out of there way to help us. the location is fantastic, on the river and close to the city centre.

Staff arranged taxi for us so driver picked us up around 1 am. Very
kind but very expensive:) There is direct pick up from the hostel when
you want to take a boat from Guilin to Yangshuo, cost is 390 rmb for
whole trip.
the hostel was small and not crowdy, very nice and with good staff. I enjoyed their tours to Li river and Longshen terrace field at a very good price.
The check in process is simple considering this is China and the hostel is not too noisy despite the poor insulation (wafer thin windows).

I tried the western-style breakfast once due to time pressures, but it wasn't good at all. As always, the better option was to eat local food.

Nothing. The bed was very low for elderly people (and not very comfortable for the staff too when making the bed).
If anything the rooms a little damp, but I think owing to the humidity in Guilin.
Matrasses were a bit hard. We traveled with kids and asked for two rooms
next to each other. One room was situated on the third floor of the main
building and the other room we've got was in the building next door.
There was no seperate showertub in the bathroom (typical Chinese).
That i only could spend one week there because my time was so limited.
Rooms on the first floor gets very noisy as from 7 am.
Room facilities are good except that the windows cannot be locked (windows come with grill though).
It was a bit hard to find, but if you come from Zhongshan Rd, then just keep going on small alley close to river and you are there.
This is the concept of "value for your money". The hostel is extremely cheap, but don't expect any luxury, none of it.
I got the feelings that we were over charged for tours and drinks we bout from them. The airport taxi was cheaper than the running rate though. They forgot our pick up time from the airport and we had to find our own way to the hotel. The hotel's location on the map at letsbookhotel.com is not accurate. Finally, I understand this is a hostel, not a hotel but some proper toilet paper would not break the bank and I would have not minded adding its cost to the quite low room rate.
The cicados were so loud that you could barely sit outside, but that is not the fault of the hostel of course.

Breakfast is a bit expensive. A small bowl of oats, yogurt and banana (Swiss Muesli) + weak green tea for 20Y.
The beds were very hard.
Room needed a new coat of paint, and there was no way to keep the power
on when leaving (normal tricks of using other cards didn't work,
needed to charge cell phone).
A couple of dodgy power points, and the small bathroom.
Expensive food not so great (especially breakfast).
The toilet paper is the only thing I can put here and I fully understand
the ecological point of using this unefficient paper... Le papier

The bad was very unconfortable, the bathroom didn't seem very clean due to oldness, even if they cleaned it every day. The proximity to the river attracts some animals...
The combined shower room and toilet is not a problem when designed correctly with proper water drainage and curtains, but three different rooms all had issues and the water became a lake in the bathroom making it difficult to use throughout the day. Some of the power plugs on the wall and on extension cords were not working well.
Wifi reception erratic inside the room. But still better than most other hostels we looked at that only had wifi in the lobby.
The bed was very hard. The lights in the room partly did not function.
Other rooms may be better, but our double room without river view was
dark, had a foul smell and was moldy. For less money you can get a much
brighter and mon-moldy room even during high season during the week -
and those places have the same positive attributes.
