Clean, comfortable room that was recently renovated. Good breakfast to get you going Convenient location to go to Zoo. The hotel was good value for the money. Staff was friendly and helpful. all reviews » The bed was super comfortable. Best sleep I had the whole trip. The room was clean and seemed newly renovated. Location was good, easy to find. Breakfast was okey too, cable tv and free internet which is a must. had lots of trouble with the hotel's wi-fi but the manager corrected the problem each time. That the TV wasn't a CRT like some hotel. Price and location. The only thing I like about was the price of the room. large fridge. price.. breakfast.. convenient location. It was ok.... Free breakfast A/C. it was cheap. When I left. The hotel room, although non-smoking smelt very much like smoke. Unfortunately, we also received a phone call while staying there at 4pm in the morning so are sleep was interrupted - phone call was not for our room. Shower head, pillows. No Elevator. I was on the third floor. Hall carpets old and dingy and didn't look clean. The breakfast area was not very appealing. No air conditioning in the halls. It seemed to be in a rough part of town (kind of seedy). The stairs on the outside of the building were not kept very well. Need to be fixed. Right beside a junkyard although it is fenced. The toilet was not attached to the floor very well, it rocked. Dirty carpet, dated looking building, overall need a refurb. 1. had lots of trouble with the hotel's wi-fi 2. my door was left opened all day apparently by the cleaning staff after I left my room that morning..It was reported to the same manager. Nothing appeared to be missing from my room 3. one evening when I came back, my room smelled like cigarette smoke. the manager offered me a can of aerosol spray!. We didn't have face cloths and only 2 towels. Breakfast is a nice touch but the location of the room is desirable. If the access was cleaner it may be OK. Toilet ran all the time. Room was dark, not enough light. When I arrived at the hotel the staff said they forgot to reserve the room for me. But he managed to get a room for me. The room was unimpressive. It was smell of the smoke , air condition filter was full of dust and I have to clean it up. The toilet paper holder fell off and a missing lamp light bulb. The hotel is old and the stairs are rusty. I don't think I want to stay at Howard Johnson in the future. shower was constantly dripping, (did mention it). room was not as clean as you would expect.. top of fridge was dirty.. This was definitely the dirtiest carpet have ever seen in any establishment, the only chair and main light fixture were broken and the TV from the lobby woke me up at 5am despite a polite request to the night staff to keep it down. It's way too far from city center.....15 miles driving!!!!. $20 charge for early check in wait for receptionist smell of smoke in non smoking room dire need of repair Howard Johnson has lowered their standards. There were spiderweb and bug in the room, not very clean (dirty stains on the wall) no bath. We mentionned we had young kids at reservation and were attributed a room on 4th floor and there was NO elevator. it was not clean, bugs, the break fest was not good nor fresh. It was a non-smoking room but it smelt like smoke so badly. The shower was dirty and behind the bathroom door. The place was a mess. Everything smelt like cigarettes and smelly feet. The room was hotter than hell. It was small and cramped. The washroom was not cleaned. The showers barely worked. If that's what all the Howard Johnson hotels are like then I will be going else where. This is the worst place I have ever stayed in. Because I was travelling with a 10-pound dog, I was relegated to a room in the basement. The first room I was offered reeked of cigarette smoke. The second room looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. There was dust on everything, including the headboard of the bed. The sheets did not even fit the bed properly and they slipped off overnight. Even after complaining, dust remained on furniture. Don't even ask about the carpet. Disgusting.
