What people say
A gem in the wilderness. This hotel was amazing. We had a spectacular view of the Columbia Ice Fields/Glacier from our window. Beds were comfortable. Room was clean and spacious. We almost missed it because it was part of the visitor center. I found this hotel on Trip Advisor and had no idea what it would be like. Location (view) was incredible.
Good place to stay to view the glacier, which we did't go onto but enjoyed getting a sense of the stark environment. Expensive because it is one-of-a-kind place to stay there. Recommended if you want to do more than pass by glacier. We didn't eat there or anything.all reviews »
Beautiful hotel located in a pristine location on the icefields parkway right under the columbia icefields. The ice explorer tour starts right at the hotel. An excellent choice if you are planning to take the 9 am tour, which is usually less crowded.
The location...near the glacier and beautiful mountains. Our room had a great view and was very clean and comfortable. Best room we had on our trip. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a short June snow storm. Magical!.
The welcome was lovely and the views spectacular. The restaurant was very good and the staff there great. Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed ideal for a family too as the second bed was on a mezzanine.
The hotel is in an excellent position to visit the glacier at either the beginning or the end of the day when it is quieter. We went on the complimentary guided walk which was excellent. Good views from the restaurant.
Every staff member, from check in staff, waiters, housekeeper, to plumber was friendly and attentive. Beds were very comfortable; the view was incredible, and the stars at night were a bonus!.
- Fantastic unbeatable location at Icefield Glacier
- Spacious clean and well equipped rooms
- Great views from the room on all sides
- Very nice & friendly staff.
Location - the very best to see and explore Athabasca Glacier and the Columbia Icefield.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Easy walk to the glacier.
Or take the Brewster!.
Great view from the bedroom window over the glacier and staff in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful despite our late arrival for dinner.
we had a wonderful view of the glacier from our room; the room was very spacious; the restaurant is expensive but very good.
A great one night stop over the views are out of this world. If you are doing a tour of the rockies you need to stop here.
it was very peaceful. beautiful scenery and friendly staff. Large rooms. food at the restaurant was pricey but very good.
Columbia icefields at your door, what could be bad. Great having a meal in the restaurant overlooking the Glacier..
The mountains are spectacular. This is 2 years in a row we stay there. Will again next year Comfortable bed.
We got free upgrade to a loft room without asking. They also had free hot chocolate in the room.
view. We are lucky to have the glacier view window. reception staff are friendly.
The glacier view room is amazing. Best location to see the Columbia
ice field.
Brilliant location with view of Athabasca Glacier from bedroom window.
Great size room and very comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful.
The location is so awesome, everything else pales in comparison...
Wonderful rooms, fantastic view on the glacier.
Great location.
Fantastic location, beautiful views, large comfortable room.
Great location, from the room you can see the glacier.
Wonderful view and very friendly and helpful staff.
our room was great with the view, very comfortable.
Immediately next to Athabasca Glacier trip.....
Location, quality of room, very nice restaurant.
Great views and location. Clean spacious room.
Fresh air. Quiet surroundings. Interesting.
Rooms very big and convenient for 4 people.
the view the glacier trip & the room.
Excellent room overlooking the glacier.
good location.
the privacy.
staff
view.
Everything.
Location.
The location is by far the best thing about this hotel, and even the glacier is a shadow of its former self. My room with view of the glacier was comfortable enough, with excellent heat and hot water.
Location, Dining Room staff pleasant and efficient (esp. Alam), room size and cost, front desk staff pleasant & efficient (Ausi gal).
Bed and room comfortable. Check in efficient. Restaurant dinner food
excellent, but pricey for Chinese entrees.
Bit pricey but good for a one night stay. Room comfortable. Good food available but again at a cost.
150$ was high price for a night, specially when sink is dripping.
Good view of glacier.
The location - the view of the glacier from our bedroom window
was stunning.
The staff is really kind and helpfull.
Very nice room good view.
What a terrific view !.
the view was great.
Locatoin is great but only one attraction so more than a nights stay makes no sense. Doesn't compare to competing nearly facilities for attractiveness.
Breakfast not included.
The windows could have been little bigger for the price we paid especially when claiming it for the location and view. No balcony or patio as well.
The main restaurant is not very inviting...except for the view. It is designed to accommodate large tour groups and is quite expensive..although the food was good. The "cafe" was a better option for us, but it closes at 6 PM and doesn't open until 9 AM.
There was nothing we didn't like.
Hard to find...our first trip in this area, and no clear signage. I did not realize it was part of the Icefield Centre, so we drove another 15 km, unable to phone to find out where it was! Then drove back. One sign, somewhere, indicating Glacier View Inn would have helped immensely.
Difficult to find entrance to hotel after dark.
How were we expected to know to follow the signs for bus parking?
Prices for food a little steep.
9.50 Brewster tour did not go because it was short of people.
Not very well signposted so not that easy to find! Sterile feel in the lobby area and although the receptionist was helpful and our room was ready, it was not a welcoming arrival. Room perfectly fine although dusty around the TV and shelving.
person at the reception wasn't friendly and helpful at all; the bathroom wasn't clean (hairs in the bath tub and on the floor).
bathroom fan had not been cleaned in a long time full of dust and the windows had not been cleaned. no fridges in the rooms.
Not many dining options..
Nothing. We are so happy to be here.
The water for the shower and the sink was intermittent. For every 10 seconds of running water, it would stop for the next 2 seconds. It was kind of annoying when you are trying to take a shower.
It's on the 3rd floor if information center and basically no any
other build close to it. So be prepared for your own food if you arrive
late. No internet access.
Food was expensive.
One of the dining rooms was closed, however there were no signs saying that. Also the interpretative centre was closed and the signs were minimal on that. Please put up more signs or explain these things when people check in. Also, please put a microwave for general use somewhere since there aren't any food options nearby and people probably bring their own food to heat up.
A lot of people stay there the whole day to visit the glacier.
Expensive restaurant.
Expensive food.
need more signs on how to find hotel lobby and were to park your car.
Quite expensive but location, location.....
Nothing.
The room was very warm.
Nothing.
Poor guest car parking.
the TV.
seems pricey for the time of year.
The charge for Internet was ridiculous considering the computers and satellite took forever to function. One email took 10 minutes, example....it cost $ 15.oo , to do 20 minutes of email.
Expensive food....especially breakfast!.
There were only two vending machines neither of them worked. There was nowhere else to get a cold drink when the cafe was closed and before the restaurant opened.
I found the hotel uninspiring and functional, it does not live up to its location. The main emphasis seems to be on the day visitors, not the guests.
Cafeteria prices were outrageous. You may be isolated, but could charge much less and sell much more. The prices screamed exploitation.
Had problem with heater someone came right away the knob was missing,
she loosened so we could adjust heat, nice gal friendly. Then a 2nd gal
came, I told her someone already took care of us, she said "no one
told me, she went to unit and said nothing wrong you can adjust
it". The conversation went on, but she was rude and condescending.
Sink was dripping
Front desk staff was helpful (don't know the name, she is from kelowna)
Breakfast is served only until 10 am
Food is expensive at the cafe.
The restaurant prices are very high - 9 cad for a small bottle of beer
is just too much - they have a captive audience with this being the only
hotel in the area and they take advantage of this and inflate their
prices accordingly.
Doesn't worth what you pay for it.
Untrained staff, lack of sighage, not very accessable, elevator not
working, room key's not working,.
Food in the restaurant as well as in the cafe.
only restaurant on site was too expensive
price for room was too high, we only got a view to the backyard.
Noisy generator made sleeping difficult. Nothing special about the restaurant. No room service, hard to find the "front desk". Not really what I expected for $250/nt. Very disappointed. Will not stay there again and will recommend others to find better facilities.
