We brought two young kids with us for an experience with nature at the nearby Algonquin Park. The hotel was an exceptional facility with everything we needed - playground, sandbox, BBQ stoves (there were three for families to share), camp fire, free wi-fi, microwave, fridge, TV, and top it off with a clean, comfortable room - it made the experience so much more enjoyable for us. What a great place with a lot of character. We didn't stay long but
it definitely left an impression. And the Moose Cafe next door is a
great breakfast option with lots of locally sourced ingredients.
I commented on booking that I needed pavement to park my bike. When I arrived I was welcomed by name and they had a piece of plywood to stand my bike on.

Quiet, Comfortable .
The front yard was not fenced. Although there's a trench separating the highway and the front yard (where the play structure and sandbox were), it's still possible that kids could run out to the road. I didn't feel safe enough to leave the 4- and 2-year-old playing by themselves in the sandbox and playground.
