The location was brilliant (especially if you get a bus from Bangkok with the Transport.co because they drop you off about 50m away) Pub st is only a few minutes walk though. Easy to arrange a tuk tuk for Angkor Wat. The bedroom was spacious, Cable tv was very much appreciated for when I got sick and had to rest up for 24 hours. The breakfast buffet was large and had variety. The staff were exceptional. The day we checked out and was minutes away from a shuttle picking us up to take us to the b.
all reviews » This was our fourth stay in Somadevi and after having mentioned a few problems during the last time we stayed with them, we got a royal treat. We were upgraded to the new part of the hotel and the rooms there are REALLY very nice. Big bathroom, nice flat screen TV with lots of channels. Super. And as usual, the fantastic buffet breakfast included in the room rate. I don't know a better four star hotel in Siem Reap; and I have stayed there extensively during the last 15 months. My husband and I stayed here for four nights at end of June. We had a four night package which included breakfast. It was great value for money. Meals were good. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We stayed in a third floor room with the pool view. It was quiet and comfortable. The pool area was gorgeous at the end of a busy day exploring the temples. Very close of night market.Would definitely recommend this hotel!. We liked the first impression. The hote seems big, as the lobby is. We were greeted in a very happy and positive way. We felt really welcome. The rooms are a little bit on the smallish side, but clean and nice. The pool is big, and not to crowded. The breakfast is great, with a lot of option. Walking distance to the 'Pub street' and surroundings, without the all the noice and hussle around that area. We stayed there 3 nights. (Sat 23 Nov 2013 to Tue 26 Nov 2013)This hotel is superb. It has very good facilities.Neat ,clean & well managed. The staff are all very polite and extremely helpful.Good location and away from the main street. The buffet breakfast is excellent . This was our 3rd stay in 3 years, the location is fantastic, set back from a busy road, you can walk to shops and markets in minutes, it represents value for money, with terrific pool and facilities, perhaps the best feature is the friendly staff, nothing is to much trouble. Great staff from reception like Mr Khan Khembra and Tong Lin and from restaurant, Mok Sovann made my stay, very comfortable, very memorable and very enjoyable. The Somadevi Angkor is an excellent Hotel - My wife and I have stayed in all grades of rooms and found our stay very pleasurable from the free Airport pickup to the easy checkout. I would recommend it to all type of travelers. It was central, comfortable, and had an excellent swimming pool. I was traveling with my grandson aged 10 and it was very good for both of us. You did not have a category for us. The staff was extremely helpful. The location is very good, near the old market and there are different restaurants around. The breakfast is nice, with many choices for traveler from various countries. Prices are reasonable. The best hotel in Cambodia of five that we visited. Nice location if you want to go to Ankgor Wat. The only thing wrong with the hotel in 2013 is the building of an extension which occasionally is noisy. Wifi is extremely weak in rooms, though the signal is good in the lobby. Wi-Fi was slow. Nothing. There was nothing to dislike!. wifi is free but sometimes not workable. Nothing. Nothing. There could have been more umbrellas around the pool and we were caught out one morning not realizing that breakfast finished at 9.30 instead of the usual 10.30 I also feel that if the spa could have been cheaper and more accessible. The bed pillows, they were too big/thick and hard for our liking. Hurt our neck. 1. Practically limited to no choice for pure Vegetarians, especially in the breakfast buffet --- We had to survive on Bread, Fruits and Cereals. 2. Even the daily $ 8.00 for set meal for Dinner had a Non Veg Chicken for the main course --- and when requested for replacing it with a Pasta, the Restaurant people declined and we were forced to eat out. Must say we were disappointed with the lack of flexibility on this count. The wifi was a little slow but that is my only criticism. Staff would not pickup room service trays, left in hallway for days. This habit of leaving uneaten food outside your door draws many insects. Apparently housekeeping staff do not pickup the trays as they pass them by while cleaning the rooms. We finally took the trays downstairs from the other rooms on our floor in an attempt to draw the insects elsewhere. Old style CRT TV in superior room Air con noisy in my room No pillows on sun loungers. Some building work going on but this was reflected in the price, no complaints. Computer of the Hotel have virus and I all most lost all my pictures in there, but they have one specialist that save my pictures. When you arrive in the Aiport they will pic you up and will try to sell to go around the city and to go to floating market - but they do not say to you that floating market is 20 dolars more for each person and during dry season you can not go there... I do not recomend close to go there, enjoy Angork (go flotation market in Bangkok - much better and cheaper). Room a bit dated and noisy with building work going on just behind! Annoying how the pool attendants start packing away at 3.30pm to set up for a dinner show which doesn't start until 7!! We had to move beds a lot!. None. slightly noisey on road side. - Lobby not well lit - Should've colder aircon. Nothing. if you ordered food at the pool bar you couldn't add it to your room and pay on check out. It was inconvenient having to pay later. The beer was only slightly cold. It needs to be chilled. I cant deny it still theres mosquitos around. 1.Construction noise outside hotel 2.dated design and plumbing issues. the elevator can be a little faster...
