Walhalla's Star Hotel is a self-rated 4 star property and the perfect mountain retreat that combines the unique feel of the gold-era with a natural bush environment. All suites feature their own lounge, en suite facilities, CD player, king size bed and a private cottage garden or section of the verandah. To ensure a great getaway and complete peace of mind, Walhalla's Star Hotel does not have TVs nor mobile telephone service. Unwind with a book or CD from our library in the hotels guest lounge and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. Walhallas Star Hotel is a reconstruction of the façades of the original gold-era Star Hotel, Stevenson Sharebrokers Office, IOOF Hall & Collins Livery Stable. The original Star Hotel was destroyed by fire in 1951. Rebuilt in 1999, the 19th century façade mask a luxury boutique hotel with 12 large suites, a private guests lounge and stylish a la carte restaurant.

We like the idea that Walhalla is rich in history, gold mining, original buildings and the town is keeping these old traditions alive. The train ride is excellent and I will look forward to taking a tour on the ghost walk. The Star Hotel is beautiful and keeps with the historical nature of the town. The townspeople are friendly and full of information. The local cuisine is good. Generally it was worth the visit and we will go again and stay a bit longer next visit and take others back with us.Directions into Walhalla were marginally good, particularly from Moe.Roads into town are good. The pillows. no television or other entertainment facilities in room....unusual. Open shower (no screens) in bathroom. Pillows - very hard and too flat for my taste. The shower was to small for me as I'm really tall. long life milk! would have preferred real milk in a jug in fridges at coffee/tea stations. Perhaps a more diverse range of music CD's to chose from. All good. limited menu, not well done ,no option of a cooked breakfast ,.
