We pretty much got exactly what was advertised. It wasn't much, but it was clean, comfortable and an enjoyable relief to come back to after spending the daytime being a tourist. The bar/cafe/bistro/whatever is 'okay' but with far more exciting places all around you'd be mad not to head outside anyway and I don't think anything needs to change there. I thoroughly recommend this hotel's cheaper suites to anyone on a budget who still wants to experience Melbourne easily and enjoyably.

I am very impressed by the attitude and immediate response of staff on reception following the disturbance during early hours on Monday 14th November by workmen cleaning a grease trap. I am very grateful for their acknowledgment and appreciation of the inconvenience. I had a basic room and it was small but comfortable. The bed was a little hard, but the pillows were great so I slept well. Shower was a good size and their was good water pressure. The included breakfast was good: plenty of continential options and included a decent-sized cooked plate (eggs, bacon, tomato, mushrooms, hashbrown). Close to Spencer Street Station and minutes from the Melbourne Aquarium. Also close to tram stops though Melbourne Public Transport can be a bit confusing if you don't know what you are doing. Good size bathroom and good size room altogether. Nice and quiet too. Good to have aircon on warm days too!. Staff were helpful and friendly. The smoking balconys were awesome and a great idea. the Cafe for breakfast was comfortable and very nice surroundings and the breakfast was great and friendly staff. have recommended the hotel to friends already and i will certainly be back!! :-). was a really good room for the price. was well balanced. noticed the room service food was a also a fair price. nothing to complain about. so far one of the best places i have stayed thus far. Great breakfast included as part of a package, good selection available. Hotel very handy to Southern cross station for airport transfers! and other downtown city amenities. But the night manager was happy to turn it off and then it stopped - it was just unfortunate that happened in the middle of the night. Was not used to not having a window at eye level that you can look out of regardless of the situation of the room. TV channels were basic, mostly home shopping network stuff. cant think of anything. A standard room was pretty ordinary, view of a well area to service adjacent rooms. However, a free upgrade to a nicer room was provided on request. The room didn't have very good natural ventilation only an airconditioner that made us only very thirsty. As we were on the ground floor a lot of street and loud noises were heard all through the night causing unrest and a lot of tired people in the morning. If we stayed then again I would ask for a room on a higher floor to reduce the road noise. Colour of the paint on the walls. There should be ramp provided along with the stairs to reach elevated floors for ease of lifting luggage. Not elderly friendly. - Door key system was malfunctioning when was checking in. Was resolved later that night. - No safe for valuables - Sofa bed was not very comfertable. the club noise. Even though it was Grand Prix weekend I still felt it was a bit overpriced but I didn't really have a choice as most other hotels were booked out. 1)The lack of any staff to assist with getting our luggage inside and up to our room. 2) We used the AUD27.0024hr Internet option but the speed was way below par. You couldn't use the data cap that comes with the plan if you tried. No bus or tram pass the hotel, but it's not to far to walk. Wireless was the most expensive I found in Australia. Limited in Mb. The design of the bathroom. Was a bit tricky getting around to the toilet and wouldn't be ideal for a group of girls wanting to stay. Room was quite spartan - no bed light, table space, no drawers or places to put things. No shelf in bathroom. No tissues etc. Parking was too hard to find, so I had to park at the front of the hotel and move the car before 7am so it didn't get towed away. noisy fellow travellors - slamming doors all night/early morning. House keeping was non existent and breakfast was appalling. Both of these concerns have been raised with hotel. The room service is under expectation. No hair dryer provided in room as other similar style hotel of same value n need to pay extra. Heater in room not working even after lodging a complain. Noise carried from room to room from other guests. Rooms could have been a little bigger. no android charger. Well.....bed was a little firm!. Very noisy as room windows faced stairwell and noise from nearby hotel was very load. Needs a microwave!!!!. Our windows were so very dirty in our room. I don't know why but there was smoke smell in toilet. It was probably from next door. A little bit noisy at night. Could hear air cond unit and water flowing through pipes. out of the 3 nights I stayed ,my room was serviced every day all right but soap and shampoo got overlooked on the second day,Saturday,6th Apr 2013 ( Rm 136). Rooms very small. matress was uncomfortable,very soft. Small window lights shone thru window waking me early. they could do little bit of personalisation. parking is a problem; facilities are quite old. Colour green.
