The resort is an ideal base for exploring the Great Ocean Road, the Twelve Apostles and Erskine Falls. Kids will be kept entertained with free activities onsite at the resort including pedal carts, bikes, lawn bowls and fishing rods.

It's the best hotel in our trip. Good location, beach is behind house. Very warm and cozy stay, like a home. Complete facilities, swimming pool, in house kitchen, laundry facility, balcony, massage tubs, sitting room, everything looked perfect. Good atmosphere, good design! All of us like it very much! It's a pitty we arrived late and stayed for one night only. Highly recommended!. I like everything the staff is very good. Heath i think the guy who checked us in was very nice. the food was great, the room was very nice and clean. you steps away from the beach. if i come back to aus and will be spending time in the lorne i must come back to this hotel.
all reviews » The room was immaculate and fresh, and we opened the window to the sound of the sea. We slept soundly as the room was soundproof, and next morning the breakfast was fabulous.It is a great resort with helpful staff and wonderful and manicured surroundings. We loved the location being so close to the beach and in the centre of the town. We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast each day. We would love to come back to stay @ Mantra in Lorne, but we did have a few issues which I have listed in the next comment box. Loved the location; the level of comfort of the self contained apartments; and we could hear the crashing waves of the southern ocean from our apartment. There were also beautiful sulphur crested cockatoos visiting our balcony! Beautiful. Staff were friendly and welcoming, location was fantastic - 70 metre walk between our room and beach. Buffet breakfast was phenomenal. Wishing we had booked for a longer stay, definitely coming back! Thank you!. As we had stayed here for numerous conferences in the 80's it was nice to stay in the heritage part again. The beds were very comfortable and breakfast was good although some dishes were only warm and not hot. The mantra is on a prime location just on the beach and opposite shops and restaurants. Staff were friendly and choices for accommodation room types are plentiful. Overall an impressive property. I love Lorne and the Mantra is excellent proximity to the beach. We have stayed here a few times and will again. The appartments are very comfortable and clean. Lots of places to dine and shop. The one bedroom apartment was roomy with all "mod cons" and we had a good view of the ocean. Close to beach, shops and eateries. The breakfast was excellent. Free parking at the unit. Better than expected accommodation, clean and very well-equipped and comfortable room. Excellent food in their bistro bar restaurant. Great facilities for tennis, swimming,spa etc. flexibility at being able to change rooms and extend stay. Staff service was excellent, we put in a couple of maintenance requests and they were acted on within the hour,. Its my second time to living in Mantra chain hotels. Very satisfied, their breakfast is good. Beach is very very close. There is a warm SPA pool, where kids always enjoy. Lovely place to stay,modern unit with kitchen and balcony,the bed was clean and comfortable,I loved we could open the patio doors up and listen to the waves. everything was wonderful, location, staff and facilities. all excellent, looking forward to coming back and staying again, will recommend to anyone. thanks. Good size room ,very clean ,nice grounds. I felt that for the very basic room that we had with no view or air con it was very expensive. There was no information in the room about Lorne, and we were only given a 1 page sheet about the resort. It was also very annoying that there was no program available for the foxtel movie channels and when we asked at reception if they could supply a program the answer was NO! What is the point of having Foxtel if you don't know what is on. The card entry system was a bit cumbersome. The fact we could only stay for 1 night. Would have liked to have had more time to look around the resort. The breakfast area needs some updating as it feels more like a canteen. It lacks atmosphere even at night for drinks. The pool has no privacy and people look through as they walk down the corridor to there rooms. Some minor changes can really bring the facilities to the next level. We had a couple of problems, although it was very busy. Our parking spot was taken by another guest who said he was told to park anywhere. We had quite a wait to have this resolved. The water heating was not turned on so we were one and half days with only cold water not really good, however when I insisted it be fixed immediately it was. I think this is something that should be checked in every room before a guest arrives. Nothing. The air conditioning was dripping on the carpet in the bedroom which gave the carpet a rather wet moldy smell,we slept with the bedroom patio doors open for this reason.......other than that a great place to stay. The price for the weekends was a massive jump. However when we did a search for 2 adults & 4 children nothing showed. When we did 2 A & 3 C we were given options for additional beds. Mantra could be loosing customers if people follow the availability given by the site on the first initial search, something to look at. limited choice of breakfast, Heritage style room a little dated/old over and above 'style' of room. Wifi is not complementary, camping ground next door. Window treatments were not on all windows, and some could have been cleaner. We were in Unit 183B and had no allocated parking. As it was raining this made unloading our suitcases into the room a wet and unpleasant experience. My husband and I are in our seventies and we found carrying our luggage up the stairs tiring. Our room was a long walk from the car park. It would have been nice to have had someone to help. A couple of pieces of hair on the bed sheet. Parking difficult close to hotel. Locked out of room late on return from dinner and locked out again on return from breakfast. Curtains unhooked in places and had to climb on chair to fix for darked room and unable to open door/window for fresh air. Extremely long wait, 40 mins for check-in. We had a ground floor apartment and found that there were constantly people cutting through where we were sitting outside to get to the beach. There could be a guide rail or something around the "patio area" on the ground floor outdoor eating areas. had to take our bags ourselves up three flights of stairs was very difficult. having to leave. Need more foxtel channels. To a degree the car parking arrangements. Random car parking. Bit of a lottery getting car space close to unit. Access door swipes ceased to work. Locked out! Shutters don't open. No room service on day two. Parking was average as I could not get a park right by my apartment complex, room was a little exposed due to ground floor location,. That our trip had to end!. Needs Aircon Needs Elevator the window should have a fly screen so if its a warm night we can have the window open. The information sheet was not comprehensive - need to have the usual in-room folder. Staff did not ask me to pay for breakfast and had to call and email me later. I did not receive a receipt or confirmation of costs. Not good. The bed was quite hard. We were next to the restaurant so it was noisy as children went to breakfast from about 7.30 am till 9 am. In the heritage block, the step up to the bath for the shower, could be a little dangerous. nothing really. Wine List - limited Options for Sparkling Wine list was very extremely limited. For a hotel thats not cheap, I would suggest at least having Jansz on the shelf. Direction to the rooms from reception-mapping is poorly signed- it would be hard work if you arrive at night. It looks like a tired place, where money not spent on the basics. Some of the staff were wearing tatty uniforms. the girl on recepetion. the wait at reception. nothing in the 'fridge and not enough tea bags. the cost Lorne is now awful...way too crowded. some basic kitchen utensils were missing sofa needed cleaning. The room we initially booked wasn't what we were after as the description and picture didn't correspond with what we actually saw when we checked in. Room was just four walls and very small and terrible. Would love to have more comfortable couches. The buildings are a little tired and the room we stayed in had no air conditioning. Our resort room was overlooking a car park. Had to call to request clean towels.
