Excellent food from restaurant and reasonably priced. Very polite, obliging staff. Was able to book in earlier than expected. Room served its purpose. The staff are always very helpful with any questions you may have and nothing is a problem. Rooms are clean and beds very comfortable. the old style of the room really fitted in with the whole building. one of the most softest beds i have slept in a while.
all reviews » to start of it was very close to my mums place.beautiful views and short walk to Elizabeth st for shopping etc. The bed and bedding was so comfortable. Very spacious. The dinner meal was superb as was the restaurant staff. The Unit was a good size and comfortable. Rydges was a handy distant from the city centre. Plenty of parking space, quiet situation, easy to get into town from there. Nice view. had everything you need, but the hotel is little to far to walk from Salamanca market. Convenience of location room very comfortable staff that I meet very accommodating. the staffs of reception are friendly and the rooms are really specially. close proxmidiy to cbc ,car parking was good.options for meals was good. Location was good and staff were friendly and very helpful. Great views. I liked the fact that it was away from the rat race of central Hobart. The bar was not staffed one night so went to our room early. The room decor needs a bit of a refresh. Plumbing was noisy, and we heard our neighbours running water everytime. The bathroom was not completely clean with thick dust in the fan and the floor behind the door. Floors not swept or vaccumed in the 12 days I was there also sheets not changed in this time I wouldn't expect them to be changed daily but at least once in this time and on one day room not serviced at all had to go get clean towels from reception. nothing bad. more time should be taken with cleaning of rooms eg found cob webs ,dust and dirt and food remains in crispers of fridges,also tea towels where forgotten at times. Abit noisy in rooms could hear above room having shower. Going up two flights of stairs with luggage. Showering in the bath (can get slippery). Paint colour on walls (specially in bedroom) needs to be lighter to brighten it up. The rooms were dated. No coach to sit on in the living area where the TV was. Rooms are a little dated. Condition of room furniture was below standard .cupboard doors falling off windows unable WTO be open . General maintenance no up to standard. No bench space in bathroom and no wine glasses in room. Just a little too far away from city attractions. Old decoration and loud neighbours. The bathroom floor (textured tiles- nonslip-great) was very dirty and needed a damn good scrub! The toilet bowl had not been cleaned for some days at least! Hate showers over baths! Husband has difficulty with balance. No lift to upstairs units - husband has problems. Room dark & dreary. Bathroom floors & mirror old & daggy. Rooms very much in need of refurbishment & brightening up. The fact we were next to a football oval and could hear the siren go off. Suite was divided in two by the bathroom so you can't watch TV from main bedroom. Room was cold. Heater worked sporadically and despite reporting problem, issue was not fixed during our stay. Old rambling buildings, out-dated furniture and decor; in need of a face lift. Slow restaurant service. The Internet was costly and not available for the 24 hours which I paid for. No refund was offered. Shower door needed fixed. And though clean the room could have been better with not much more effort. Bathroom cleaning and restocking of supplies lacked attention to detail. Hairs, not ours on bathroom floor at check in, and no dish washing liquid, and not replenished although bottle left on sink. room needed upgrading. furniture is dated and many cracked tiles in bathroom. sliding door hard to open. seating arrangements not overly comfortable. It is a bit old. Bathroom, restaurant service, no tea towel for dishes. Room required an upgrade. Very dated rooms with old bathroom and kitchenette. There was lots of people talking loudly for a lot of the night. The biulding was not well soundproofed. We couldn't get wifi or tv reception...very disappointing. We were in room 42. Very noisy aircon and fridge. the room needed upgrading. The hotel needs updating. The furniture is very outdated and in poor condition. Not clean. The antique theme is not an excuse for a dirty room. Bathroom very dated and in need of an update and had long black hairs in the bath and on floor. Floors were not clean and tiles had a greasy feel to them. Canopy over bed was full of dust which choked all night and had hairs on it also. Furniture lovely but wardrobe covered in dust, lounge tatty and chair upholstery dirty. Evening meal so-so and spoke of an uninterested chef. Desk receptionist not interested. Amateurishly ran for such a big name hotel. Sauna was too cold. Front door had no room card access and relied on someone manually opening the door for you. Room in need of a touch up. Old and ugly microwave, stove/oven and fridge. There was a stove/oven but no pots or pans? There is literally only 2 of everything, knives, forks, glasses and plates. Eyesores outside the window getting in the way of the view. We didn't get the type of room that we booked & consequently the bed was pretty uncomfortable. I felt that the prices of drinks in the bar were pretty well inflated. We stayed for 3 nights & our room was not serviced while we were there. I am thinking that this was a bit poor for an establishment in it's class. The place needs a good Clean an an update, old and tired. Curtains torn in living room and central light hopeless, bedside light faulty and dangerous, no globe in light outside door, living room presentation terrible, woodwork grubby with age, staircase dirty, very disappointing, as I stay at Rydges in other locations. Bar was dreadful...reception staff were great. cold tiles in the kitchen, bathroom -no rugs etc walking in straight into bedroom building separated from each other, no connection, in bad weather no access to bar/restaurant etc far away from the centre of Hobart. Fridge door handle was sticky, old and not clean. The cups were dirty and old, cutlery needs replacing. The power point in the kitchen was cracked and dirty. The mirror in the bathroom is fine if you are 6 ft. They put one on the back of the door for short people. Very disappointing given how much you have to pay.

How to get here
From the airport - 20 Kilometres North West exiting the airport driveway, turn left onto the A3 Highway and over the Tasman Bridge following the signs into Hobart. At the large roundabout with a fountain in the middle, proceed straight ahead onto Liverpool Street. 2 blocks along Liverpool at the Tasmanian Police Station turn right into Argyle Street and follow for approximately 2 km. When Argyle Street becomes a two way street, Rydges Hobart is located on the right hand side of the road, through the second set of traffic lights. Taxi is approximately AUD 35.00 and a 20 minute drive. Airporter Shuttle Service is AUD 12.00 per person one way.

From the CBD area - From the Mall, travel North up Elizabeth Street, turn right into Federal Street and left onto Argyle Street. Rydges Hobart is located on your right. Taxi is approximately AUD 7.00.
